Client Introduction
The client operates complex mining environments across multiple regions. Product data was created locally,
in different languages and formats, and managed independently across ERP, procurement, and warehouse systems.
The Challenge
Product information was incomplete, inconsistent, and often entered as free text. Classification accuracy was low,
duplicates were common, and maintenance teams struggled to find the right parts. Generic AI tools failed to enrich
mining-specific products due to missing technical context.
The Solution
PIMvendors designed and implemented a central PIM/MDM solution with a unified UNSPSC-based product data model.
Niche AI tools, trained on mining and MRO data, were introduced to automate classification, attribute extraction,
and duplicate detection, supported by a human-in-the-loop governance process.
The Results
Free-text items dropped from over 40% to below 10%, classification accuracy increased to 95%+, and onboarding time
was reduced from weeks to days. All regions now work from one trusted catalogue, enabling reliable spend analysis
and faster maintenance operations.
