Bombiix Receives £530K Investment from Finance Yorkshire

· 2025-04-04 · Updated 2026-10-17 · 2 min read

Bombiix, a UK vendor of product lifecycle management (PLM) software, received £530,000 from Finance Yorkshire's Growth Fund. Trade press reported the investment on 3 April 2025. Bombiix is a PLM tool for brands and SMEs, not a PIM system.

What was announced

  • Investment: £530,000 from Finance Yorkshire's Growth Fund, which backs SMEs in Yorkshire and Humber that want to expand, create jobs and raise productivity.
  • Company: Founded by Lucy Blackley, who has a product development and fashion background including a period at Zalando. The team has five people at the ergo business centre in Hessle, East Yorkshire. Neil Weaver, formerly Global Supply Chain and IT Director at Cath Kidston, is CEO.
  • Product: PLM software that takes brands and SMEs from concept and product development through to production. Named clients are Smiffys, Rubies, Radley and Joanie Clothing.
  • Use of funds: Marketing to new customers and hiring in the region. Blackley wants a PLM that works across product categories and sees food and drink as a possible sector.
  • Regulation as a driver: Bombiix points to EU sustainability rules, including digital product passports, as a reason for demand. See our digital product passport guide for the actual scope.

Why it matters

Our reading: this is a small round for a five-person company, and the main interest is the niche. PLM tools for small fashion and consumer goods brands sit next to PIM, and passport and sustainability rules push product data work upstream into design and sourcing. For the PLM and PIM relationship, see PLM and PIM integration. The round is one of several in the PIM market acquisitions and funding timeline.

What buyers should check

  • Confirm whether the tool covers your product category, since the named clients are fashion and costume brands.
  • For a small vendor, ask about team size, support cover and what happens to your data if the vendor is acquired or closes.
  • Ask how product data flows from PLM to your PIM or channels, and which export formats are supported.
