Frontiers in DAM: Where a Generated File Meets the Product Record

On 28 May 2024, three speakers talked about generative AI and digital assets in the session Frontiers in DAM: the impact of GenAI. They came from Wedia, Descrb and dampioneers.
The recording:
Speakers:
- Olivier Grenet of Wedia talked about integrating AI into digital workflows.
- Sylvain de Backer-Thierry of Descrb covered trends and hands-on applications of AI in DAM. In the November 2023 PIM session the same LinkedIn profile is published as Sylvain de Backer. Both forms stay as published.
- Timo Faber of dampioneers talked about DAM, growth and creativity in the sector.
The event page also linked Wedia's ebook, Unveiling the Evolution of AI within the DAM Environment. The title is Wedia's. Read it as their paper, not as minutes of this session.
A DAM and a PIM break in different places once a model starts writing. The DAM fails when the file is the wrong crop, the wrong rights or the wrong language. The PIM fails when the attribute the file is attached to has no definition. What DAM is is the file side of that split. AI-ready product data is what the product record needs before a model drafts from it. Product data quality and governance is who accepts a generated file before it is published. PIM features and capabilities is where asset handling sits inside a PIM, which is the overlap this session was about.
The trade-off is blunt. The recording lets you hear how the three companies talk. A shortlist still needs a workflow of your own to test them against.
