Bertsch and priint: What a PIM-to-Print Partnership Means for Buyers

Bertsch Innovation and the priint Group did not merge. In July 2025 they tightened a partnership: mediacockpit holds the product and asset record, and priint:suite and priint:cloud produce the print. If you already pay for one of them, time the join on one real publication before you renew as if it were a single platform.

The note is from Duisburg and dated July 2025. mediacockpit is Bertsch's web application for product information, digital assets and publishing to more than one channel. priint:suite adds automated print for jobs that repeat, such as catalogues. priint:cloud is the on-demand piece, for a datasheet or a flyer rather than a 400-page book. The priint press note is the source. Nothing in it transfers ownership from one company to the other.

Carl Brenninkmeijer, Partner Manager at Bertsch, says mutual customers want the two in one setup. He names two Bertsch products. mediacockpit is for complex product data. AutomotivePIM is for aftermarket data built on TecDoc and AUTOCARE. Sebastian Hardung, CMO of the priint Group, adds the line a buyer can use. Shared customers already send product data and assets into creative workflows. In priint's experience they still do not use the full combination of mediacockpit with priint:suite or priint:cloud. The vendors want to automate linking products, regional prices and content in several languages. They say that shortens the path to market and improves what the end customer sees. That is their aim. They do not publish a before-and-after on a named account.

The press note lists what the combination is meant to cover. Treat the list as a checklist for a demo, not as a result you can take to a budget meeting:

  • Product data. Import, find, maintain, localize and release product information, including large sets.
  • Assets. Faster access to media, so a team reuses a file instead of exporting a new one for every channel.
  • Repetitive work. Link products, apply regional prices and localize content without rebuilding the file each time.
  • Channels. Print catalogues, online shops, marketplaces and apps, plus regional price lists, datasheets, brochures and catalogues.

A catalogue and a marketplace listing fail for different missing fields. A missing pack shot stops the listing. A missing local price stops the price list. PIM and marketplaces sets out which attributes each channel actually rejects. This partnership does not fill those attributes for you.

Print also assumes the record and the media already exist. What a PIM holds, and what a DAM holds, is the split to keep: a print engine does not become the system of record because a PIM vendor stands next to it. If your product data is still a spreadsheet, this announcement does not hand you a PIM.

Two companies can integrate and still ship on separate roadmaps. Acquisitions and funding in the PIM market is the piece to read when a logo on a press note makes you wonder who maintains the connector in three years. Here, each vendor keeps its own product.

Before you renew on the strength of the alliance, score it the way you would score any PIM shortlist: on your data, your channels and the people who have to run it. How to select a PIM is that test. A practical version for this partnership is one publication you already hate producing, in two languages, timed against the current layout file. The trade-off is a second release cycle and a second support desk. Take that on only if the timed job is actually faster.
