AMAC Selected a PIM for the Shop and the Web

AMAC selected a PIM that has to feed the shop and the web from one product record. The company is an Apple Premium Reseller in the Netherlands. It sells Apple devices and accessories, and it offers expert advice and certified repair, through its online store and through shops across the country. The Challenge

Product information had to stay consistent on the point of sale, on the e-commerce platform and in the tools that support both. The existing setup could not give AMAC that stability. A new PIM was the way to hold one product record and send it to every system a customer or a colleague actually uses.

The Solution

PIMvendors worked with AMAC's teams to capture requirements and to put the stakeholders on one list. The data architecture was mapped, and the capabilities were named against the channels AMAC sells through. Vendor selection came after that map. The PIM had to connect to the point of sale, the e-commerce platform and the downstream systems.

The Results

With the PIM in place, AMAC sends product information to its sales channels from one record. The choice was scored on those connections.

The trade-off is time before the first demo. A PIM bought for the webshop alone is a shorter project, and the shops then need a second pass to get the same record.

The order is what transfers. Name the systems, then compare vendors. The commerce stack sets out which system owns the product when a retailer sells in a shop and online.
