Salesforce Acquires Informatica for About $8 Billion

sites · 2025-06-02 · Updated 2026-10-17 · 2 min read

Salesforce announced on 27 May 2025 that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the data management vendor Informatica. On 18 November 2025 Salesforce reported that the acquisition was complete.

What was announced

  • Deal value: About $8 billion in equity value, net of Salesforce's existing investment in Informatica, at $25 in cash per share. The figure is Informatica's and Salesforce's own.
  • Approval: The boards of both companies approved the deal. Holders of about 63% of Informatica's voting power (Class A and Class B-1 shares) gave written consent, so no further shareholder vote was needed.
  • Financing: A mix of Salesforce's cash and new debt.
  • Stated purpose: Combine Informatica's data catalog, integration, governance, quality, privacy and master data management with Salesforce's platform, as a data foundation for AI agents.
  • Completion: Salesforce's press release of 18 November 2025 states the acquisition is complete. It says Informatica is to be combined with MuleSoft for integration and API management, and that Salesforce expects the deal to add to non-GAAP earnings per share within 12 months, earlier than first committed.

Why it matters

Our reading: Salesforce is buying master data and governance because it argues AI agents are only as good as the data they read. For product data, the relevant asset is Informatica's PIM, Product 360, which now sits inside a CRM company. The deal is one of the largest in the PIM market acquisitions and funding timeline.

What buyers should check

  • If you run Informatica Product 360 or MDM, ask for the product roadmap under Salesforce in writing, including support for non-Salesforce stacks.
  • Check whether licensing, bundling or support terms change at renewal.
  • If you are shortlisting a PIM, compare it with independent vendors on integration with your ERP and commerce platform, not only with Salesforce.
