myview Alternatives: 7 PIM Solutions to Compare

· 2026-10-11 · 10 min read

myview is a familiar name for technical manufacturers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, especially in lighting and building services. Teams that run it reopen the decision when retailers change their data requirements, when supplier data becomes the bottleneck, or when a new ERP or commerce platform arrives. This guide covers what myview is, why teams look elsewhere, seven alternatives and how to switch.

What myview is and who it fits

myview is a German vendor, founded in 1998. According to our myview profile, it sells a modular PIM for print and digital product communication, as SaaS, cloud-hosted or on-premise, for small, mid-market and enterprise companies in the DACH region and the rest of Europe. The modules cover product modeling with multidimensional features and export variants, workflows on Camunda (WorkflowManager), quality gates and completeness checks, a native DAM with technical formats, translation projects (TranslationManager), and print and database publishing. An optional headless layer, xom, serves portals and configurators. For lighting, myview offers xmediaLight, which its CEO presented in our webinar on PIM for lighting.

Our analyst assessment puts the best fit with DACH and European mid-market manufacturers and distributors with technically complex, variant-rich catalogs, especially lighting, building services (TGA and HVAC) and industrial components, that need PIM and DAM, BMEcat, ETIM and ECLASS, print and catalog automation, and master data led by the ERP. Its strengths are a deep library of industry exports, print and database publishing, workflow and translation management, a DAM that handles technical formats and a long track record in technical product communication.

Why teams look for a myview alternative

  • Retailers ask for GDSN. Our analyst notes that myview is not a GDSN or FMCG retail syndication PIM without an external data pool. A manufacturer whose channel shifts toward large retailers needs a partner or a different platform.
  • Supplier data is the bottleneck. Supplier onboarding in myview runs through imports and integrations, not a supplier portal of the kind Akeneo or Salsify offer. A distributor with many suppliers may want more.
  • A new stack. A new ERP, a new commerce platform or a move to an API-first setup is the usual moment to test whether the current PIM still fits.
  • A renewal. Contract renewal is a natural point to compare, even if the conclusion is to stay.

myview alternatives at a glance

  • prodexa: best for DACH manufacturers and distributors that need ETIM, ECLASS, print and supplier catalog onboarding in one suite.
  • mediaCockpit: best for PIM, DAM and print publishing close together, with ETIM, ECLASS and BMEcat depth.
  • Viamedici: best for SAP-centric enterprises with configurable products and multilingual catalogs.
  • Perfion: best for manufacturers and distributors on Microsoft Dynamics or SAP Business One.
  • Bluestone PIM: best for an API-first SaaS PIM in a composable stack.
  • Crystallize: best for manufacturers building their own B2B storefront or configurator.
  • Syndigo: best when large retailers and GDSN become the main channel.

The alternatives

The seven options are ordered by how close they come to what myview buyers need. Founding years, headquarters and the fit and watch-out notes come from each system's vendor profile.

prodexa

prodexa is a German PIM and product experience suite, founded in 2019 by teams from OpusCapita and jCatalog, sold as SaaS or cloud-hosted.

  • Where it differs from myview: it covers much the same ground, with PIM, DAM, cross-media publishing and ETIM and ECLASS, and adds supplier catalog onboarding flows (MCP) and automotive aftermarket depth with TecDoc. Our analyst fits it to DACH and European manufacturers and distributors that want a broad suite more than a composable headless PIM. Entry SaaS pricing is published, and print runs through InBetween.
  • Check: it is not a safe pick for an API-first setup unless you accept its documented API limits, and its GDSN and digital product passport claims need a proof of concept. The profile lists no on-premise option.

mediaCockpit

mediaCockpit is a German PIM, DAM and publishing system from Bertsch Innovation, founded in 1996, sold as SaaS, cloud-hosted or on-premise.

  • Where it differs from myview: it is a close match on print and standards, with print through mediapublisher and priint, ETIM and ECLASS depth with e-proCAT, BMEcat for B2B, and GDSN through the partner b-synced. Our analyst fits it to European mid-market and enterprise manufacturers, retailers and publishers that want PIM, DAM and publishing in one place and accept a configuration-led rollout with quote-based licensing.
  • Check: it is not a lightweight composable PIM, API documentation is gated, some users describe the interface as dated, and marketplace syndication is narrower than in feed-native tools.

Viamedici

Viamedici is a German vendor, founded in 1996, that sells an enterprise suite for PIM, MDM, DAM and product configuration (CPQ), as SaaS, cloud-hosted or on-premise.

  • Where it differs from myview: it serves the same industrial buyers at enterprise scale, with SAP integration, multi-domain MDM with a golden record and a supplier portal, an integrated configurator, print heritage through viaPUBLISH and industrial classification depth. Our analyst fits it to SAP-centric manufacturers and industrial distributors with complex configurable products and multilingual print and digital catalogs.
  • Check: it is not a lean composable PIM, so plan for suite complexity and integrator cost. Evidence for GDSN and GS1 retail syndication is thin. It targets enterprises only, so it is not an option for smaller myview users.

Perfion

Perfion is a Danish PIM, founded in 2003, sold as SaaS, cloud-hosted or on-premise, with strong integration with Microsoft Dynamics.

  • Where it differs from myview: it starts from the ERP: our analyst fits it to mid-market and enterprise manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers with complex relational catalogs and a Dynamics or SAP Business One footprint that need print, e-commerce and ERP alignment. Its strengths include flexible relational modeling, a built-in DAM, strong print and publications, low-code Actions and an optional supplier portal.
  • Check: it is not a digital shelf or high-volume marketplace suite, and GDSN needs a data pool or middleware. The profile does not detail ETIM or BMEcat, so ask to see your own exports.

Bluestone PIM

Bluestone PIM is a Norwegian SaaS PIM, founded in 2013, built on microservices with an API-only, MACH-certified architecture.

  • Where it differs from myview: it is built for a composable commerce stack rather than print, with large catalogs, variants, bundles and configurable products, validation rules, completeness scoring and AI for content and translation. The profile targets mid-market and enterprise manufacturers, distributors and omnichannel retailers.
  • Check: our analyst asks you to test deployment effort, proof of standards support and commercial transparency. That includes ETIM and BMEcat, and the profile does not describe print publishing. It runs as SaaS or cloud-hosted only.

Crystallize

Crystallize is a Norwegian headless PIM and commerce backend, founded in 2017, sold as SaaS to small and mid-market companies.

  • Where it differs from myview: it fits the portal and configurator side that myview covers with xom. Our analyst fits it to B2B and direct-to-consumer commerce teams that build their own storefronts, with engineers available, and notes configurator and bill-of-materials patterns in its product model.
  • Check: it is not a PIM for ERP-centric catalog operations, and it has no native ETIM, GDSN or marketplace syndication. It does not replace print catalogs, so it is an option for the storefront, not for the whole of what myview does.

Syndigo

Syndigo is a US platform that combines PIM, MDM, DAM and content syndication with a large network of retailers, built through acquisitions such as Riversand (MDM) and 1WorldSync.

  • Where it differs from myview: it covers the job myview leaves to an external data pool: validated content to each retailer's requirements, with Syndigo acting as a GDSN operator. Our analyst fits it to enterprise teams in consumer goods, foodservice, health and beauty, hardlines and retail vendor management.
  • Check: authoring and composable APIs are secondary to the network, and the content hub and the Riversand MDM are two integration surfaces. If you only need to reach one data pool, a data pool subscription next to your PIM may be enough.

How to choose and switch

  1. List what myview does for you

Write down the data model and features, the export profiles (BMEcat, ETIM, ECLASS and others), the print templates, the workflows, the translation projects, the DAM and the ERP integration. This shows where the value sits.

  2. Turn it into requirements and a shortlist

Mark which exports and templates are must-haves and which channels are growing. Pick three vendors that match. The PIM RFP guide helps write the requirements.

  3. Demo with your own data

Give each vendor one product family with its features and variants, and ask for one of your BMEcat or ETIM exports and one existing catalog page, built from your data in a scripted demo.

  4. Migrate in slices with a parallel run

Move one product family at a time, and compare the exports and catalog pages from myview and the new system until they match.

  5. Settle the contract last

Align the switch with your myview notice period and with the next catalog deadline, and check renewal terms and exit clauses in the new contract before you sign.

Frequently asked questions

What is myview?

myview is a German PIM vendor, founded in 1998, with a modular system for print and digital product communication: PIM, DAM, workflows, translation management and print or database publishing. It runs as SaaS, cloud-hosted or on-premise and is built for manufacturers and distributors with technically complex catalogs, such as lighting, building services and industrial components.

What are the best myview alternatives?

prodexa and mediaCockpit are the closest, with ETIM, ECLASS and print in DACH. Viamedici fits SAP-centric enterprises with configurable products, Perfion fits Microsoft Dynamics and SAP Business One users, Bluestone PIM fits a composable stack, Crystallize fits a B2B storefront, and Syndigo fits a shift to retailers and GDSN.

Which myview alternatives support ETIM, ECLASS and BMEcat?

Our analyst assessments name ETIM and ECLASS depth for prodexa, mediaCockpit and Viamedici, and BMEcat for mediaCockpit. Ask each vendor to produce one of your existing exports in the demo, because the version and the class coverage matter more than the logo on a website.

Is myview suitable for retail and GDSN?

Not on its own. Our analyst notes that myview is not a GDSN or FMCG retail syndication PIM without an external data pool. If retailers require GDSN, plan a data pool partner or look at a platform that runs GDSN itself, such as Syndigo.

What is the difference between myview and prodexa?

Both are German PIM suites for manufacturers and distributors with ETIM and ECLASS and print. myview's strengths are its industry export library, print and database publishing and its workflow and translation tools. prodexa adds supplier catalog onboarding flows and automotive aftermarket depth, and publishes entry pricing for its SaaS.

Is there a myview alternative for print catalogs?

Yes. mediaCockpit, Viamedici, Perfion and prodexa all have a print or catalog publishing path in their profiles. Ask each to rebuild one of your existing catalog pages from your data in the demo.

How do you migrate away from myview?

Inventory the data model, export profiles, print templates, workflows and translations, rebuild the exports and templates in the new system, migrate one product family at a time with a parallel run, and switch myview off only when every export and catalog matches.
