Bluestone PIM keeps to product data, with a native DAM and a PDF and catalogue generator in the core and extensions such as Supplier Portal and Price Manager. Viamedici puts VIA/PIM360° on its EPIM/5 platform next to VIA/MDM for suppliers, customers, accounts, markets and regions, VIA/DAM and product configuration (CPQ), with Media and Sales Portals and Digital Shelf features listed.

Bluestone PIM models category hierarchies, variants and groups, relations and bundles, with contexts for languages and markets, channel-readiness scoring and validation and publishing workflows. Viamedici uses a configurable data model in a structured hierarchy, with a configurator for products with hundreds of attributes and variants, a DQI application and predefined BPMN workflows with four-eyes approvals.
How products, variants and relationships are modelled, and how each platform keeps data complete and approved. This decides how much of your catalogue fits without workarounds.

Bluestone PIM reaches marketplaces through its connectors to Productsup and WakeupData, adds 1WorldSync and a GS1 connector by Qmica, and builds its own connectors for commercetools, Shopify, BigCommerce and Magento 2. Viamedici syndicates from VIA/PIM360° to marketplaces such as Amazon and Zalando, retailer portals and EDI, and publishes no commerce connector list, naming commercetools, OroCommerce, Salesforce and Bloomreach as partners.
How product content leaves the PIM: to your own webshop, to marketplaces and retailers, and to commerce platforms. If the number of channels is your bottleneck, this factor weighs more than the editing screens.

04 · How they differAI features
Bluestone PIM has offered its conversational AI Agent since October 2025, with AI skills on a model the customer picks and a production MCP server with 89 tools. Viamedici added its Data Expert chat assistant in October 2026 and lists AI data quality monitoring and automatic classification, with the SAM assistant and an MCP server in development.
What AI does inside each product, as announced by the vendor. Vendors ship AI features several times a year, so read this as a snapshot and test on your own data.
Agents in the platform
AI in onboarding
AI Enrich fills attributes and drafts descriptions from raw supplier data. The AI Agent checks new imports for duplicates and invalid values.2324

05 · How they differArchitecture and integrations
Bluestone PIM is MACH-certified SaaS on AWS only, with 700+ REST endpoints, webhooks and AWS SQS queues, an SDK for UI extensions and a tailored SAP sync through its Connectivity Suite. Viamedici runs EPIM/5 on AWS, Microsoft Azure, its own sovereign cloud or on-premises, with a Universal API, an Event Hub from October 2026 and native RFC connectivity to SAP ECC 6, S/4HANA and SAP CRM.
How each platform is hosted, built, extended and connected to ERP, commerce and DAM systems. This is where IT teams spend most of their evaluation time.

MACH-certified since May 2021: microservices, API-first, cloud-native SaaS and headless. The languages and databases are not published on Bluestone PIM's own pages.27
Bloor Research describes EPIM5 as MACH-based (microservices, API-first, cloud-native, headless) with Kubernetes support. We found no published languages or databases.40

Neither publishes prices or offers open source. Bluestone PIM quotes a usage-based range for SaaS only, while Viamedici presents EPIM/5 as modules (VIA/MDM, VIA/PIM360°, VIA/DAM and VIA/Configuration), does not publish a pricing unit and offers on-premises and hybrid installs.

Bluestone PIM ranks partners as Silver, Gold and Platinum and lists partner extensions, such as composable commerce accelerators, in its Extension Hub. Viamedici cites 30 international partners and uses Platinum, Gold and Registered tiers, with valantic CEC, INFOLOX and Abilex at Platinum level, and we found no partner app store.
Who implements the platform, and with what. The partner you pick shapes the project as much as the software does.

Both announced a Visionary placement in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for PIM, so that report does little to separate them. Viamedici also cites a Leader placement in the 2024-2025 IDC MarketScape for PIM and a Niche Player placement in the 2026 Gartner MDM edition, while Bluestone PIM's latest stated IDC placement is Major Player in 2021.

At first sight, Bluestone PIM and Viamedici have a lot in common: both cover the product record with assets, a Supplier Portal and print output, both support Digital Product Passports, and both announced a Visionary placement in the same Gartner report. The differences show up in scope and in deployment: Bluestone PIM is a product data platform sold as SaaS on AWS only, while Viamedici runs PIM next to MDM, DAM and CPQ on EPIM/5, in several clouds or on-premises.
Bluestone PIM's MACH-certified, API-first setup, with its own commerce connectors and an MCP server in production, suits teams that connect product data to a composable stack and to AI agents. Viamedici's EPIM/5, with master data, product configuration and native SAP connectivity on one platform, suits manufacturers that want product and master data in one place, in the cloud of their choice or on-premises. Neither profile matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
