PIM comparison
Bluestone PIM vs Informatica Product 360
A Norwegian headless PIM and a US data management vendor whose Product 360 sits next to its multidomain MDM. How Bluestone PIM and Informatica differ on scope, channels, AI, architecture and pricing, from public sources only.
Same category, two different emphases
Bluestone PIM
In its own words “The Agentic PIM. Agents drive. Humans govern.”1
A Norwegian SaaS PIM vendor, founded in 2016, with a development site in Gdansk, Poland. It sells a headless, API-first PIM with a native DAM, AI skills and an MCP server, and has been a MACH-certified member of the MACH Alliance since 2021. It is aimed at companies that connect product data to composable commerce, ERP systems and AI agents across several markets.
Informatica Product 360
In its own words “AI needs trusted context. It starts with MDM”37
A US data management vendor, owned by Salesforce since November 2025 and now trading as Informatica from Salesforce. Its master data offering combines Multidomain MDM and packaged 360 applications, run as SaaS on its Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) with CLAIRE AI, and Product 360, a PIM that also runs on-premises.

“Decide first whether product data stands on its own or belongs to a wider master data programme. Then test how each platform fits your hosting and channels.”

01 · How they differProduct scope and packaging
Bluestone PIM keeps to product data, with a native DAM and a PDF and catalogue generator in the core and extensions such as Supplier Portal, Price Manager and InDesign Sync. Informatica sells Product 360 next to Multidomain MDM SaaS for customer, supplier, material and location data, with Media Manager as a separate DAM component, a GDSN Accelerator add-on and no published statement on print.
What each vendor sells around the product record, and how it is packaged. Packaging decides what is in the licence, what costs extra, and who you call when something breaks.
Core PIM
Master data beyond products
Product data only: no customer, supplier or location domains in the feature line-up.11
Supplier onboarding
Supplier Portal, an extension built by Bluestone PIM, gives suppliers limited access, with completeness rules and review tasks.13
Digital assets
Syndication
Channel performance analytics
No channel or digital shelf analytics in the line-up. Dashboards track product data trends inside the PIM.11
Sharing with partners
No separate sharing portal. The Supplier Portal extension can also give distributors limited access to chosen catalogues.13
Not published: no statement on a portal for sharing catalogues with retailers or distributors.
Print and publishing
A PDF and catalogue generator in the core, plus an Adobe InDesign Sync extension built by Bluestone PIM.1116
Not published: no statement on print or catalogue publishing for Product 360.
Ask both vendors
- Which of our requirements are in the base subscription, and which are separate modules, add-ons or partner apps?
- Who supports a partner app when it breaks: you, the partner or us?
- Can we add a module later without a new implementation project?
02 · How they differData model and governance
Bluestone PIM models category hierarchies, variants and groups, relations and bundles, with contexts for languages and markets and channel-readiness scoring. Product 360 uses a three-tier model of products, variants and items with classification structures, references and kits, a built-in data quality engine and BPM workflows in ActiveVOS through its BPM Accelerator.
How products, variants and relationships are modelled, and how each platform keeps data complete and approved. This decides how much of your catalogue fits without workarounds.
Modelling approach
Category hierarchies, attributes, variants and groups, relations and bundles, with contexts for languages and markets.11
Data quality
Workflow and governance
Tasks and notifications, validation and publishing workflows, and product statuses with full history.11
Ask both vendors
- Model our three hardest products live: a configurable item, a bundle and a spare part with fitment data.
- How do completeness rules differ per channel and per locale?
- What does a change to the data model cost once we are live?
03 · How they differSyndication and channels
Both connect to 1WorldSync and work with Productsup. Bluestone PIM also connects to WakeupData and builds its own connectors for commercetools, Shopify, BigCommerce and Magento 2, while Product 360 adds atrify and ECCnet through accelerators and offers an export template for Salesforce Commerce Cloud, with no published Adobe Commerce or Shopify connector.
How product content leaves the PIM: to your own webshop, to marketplaces and retailers, and to commerce platforms. If the number of channels is your bottleneck, this factor weighs more than the editing screens.
Delivery to retailers and marketplaces
Connectors to Productsup and WakeupData for marketplaces, plus 1WorldSync and a GS1 connector by Qmica for trading-partner networks.18
Commerce platform connectors
Connectors built by Bluestone PIM for commercetools, Shopify, BigCommerce and Magento 2. Vaimo builds the Adobe Commerce connector.18
Ask both vendors
- Show a live feed to one marketplace we use, including what happens when the channel rejects an item.
- Which channel connectors do you maintain yourselves, and which do partners maintain?
- When a retailer changes its template, who updates the mapping, and at what cost?
04 · How they differAI features
Bluestone PIM has offered a conversational AI Agent since October 2025, with AI skills on a model the customer picks and a production MCP server with 89 tools. Informatica's Data Quality Agent and native MCP support are generally available from Spring 2026, while the CLAIRE Product Experience Agent for Product 360 is in private preview.
What AI does inside each product, as announced by the vendor. Vendors ship AI features several times a year, so read this as a snapshot and test on your own data.
Agents in the platform
AI in onboarding
Ask both vendors
- Which AI features are in the subscription, and which are priced per use or per credit?
- Run the enrichment on ten of our real products and show what a reviewer still has to correct.
- Where is our data processed, and is it used to train models?
05 · How they differArchitecture and integrations
Bluestone PIM is MACH-certified SaaS on AWS, with 700+ REST endpoints, webhooks and AWS SQS queues, and a tailored SAP sync through its Connectivity Suite. Product 360 is a Java server cluster on Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, run on-premises or in Informatica's Cloud Hosted Service next to a separate Product 360 SaaS on IDMC, and Informatica's Material 360 and Supplier 360 extensions exchange SAP records in batch jobs.

- What are the API rate limits, and how long does a bulk import of our full catalogue take?
- Where is our data hosted, and can we choose the region?
06 · How they differPricing and licensing
Neither publishes prices or offers open source. Bluestone PIM quotes a usage-based range for SaaS only, while Informatica sells cloud services in Informatica Processing Units, publishes no metric for Product 360 on-premises and lets customers install it on Windows or Linux servers.

Ask both vendors
- Which metrics drive the price: products, users, channels, locales, API calls or modules?
- How are renewals priced, and is there a cap on increases?
- What does year three cost if our catalogue doubles?
07 · How they differPartners and implementation
Bluestone PIM uses Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers and lists partner extensions, such as composable commerce accelerators from Avensia, Lab Digital and NoA Ignite, in its Extension Hub. Informatica names global system integrators such as Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte and TCS, gives channel partners Distributor, Platinum, Gold and Silver badges, and we found no partner app store.

- What does your own team do during the implementation, and what is left to the partner?
- Can we speak to two customers in our industry?

Where each tends to fit
Teams tend to shortlist Bluestone PIM when
- product data has to reach a composable commerce stack, such as commercetools, Shopify or BigCommerce, through connectors the vendor builds itself
- a native DAM and a PDF and catalogue generator should come with the core PIM
- the team wants to choose the AI model that its enrichment and analysis skills run on
- the team wants SaaS only, with data kept in a chosen AWS region in Europe, the US or Singapore
Teams tend to shortlist Informatica Product 360 when
- product data has to link with customer, supplier and material data in a multidomain MDM from the same vendor
- the PIM has to run on-premises, on Windows or Linux servers, or in a service hosted by the vendor
- product data has to reach GDSN data pools such as atrify and 1WorldSync, or ECCnet, through accelerators from the vendor
- the webshop runs on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, for which Informatica offers a free export template

Expert view
Bluestone PIM or Informatica Product 360: it depends on your requirements
Put side by side, Bluestone PIM and Informatica Product 360 cover the same product record basics: a supplier portal, validation rules and task workflows, connections to 1WorldSync and Productsup, and MCP access for outside AI tools. The differences show up in scope and deployment: Bluestone PIM is a product data platform sold as SaaS on AWS only, while Product 360 sits next to Informatica's Multidomain MDM and runs on-premises, hosted by Informatica or as SaaS on IDMC.
Bluestone PIM's MACH-certified, API-first setup, with a native DAM, its own commerce connectors and AI skills on a model you pick, suits teams that connect product data to a composable stack and to AI agents. Product 360, with its three-tier model of products, variants and items, a GDSN Accelerator and links to customer, supplier and material data in Informatica's MDM, suits teams that treat product data as one part of a wider data management estate. Neither profile matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
What works best for you depends on your unique requirements. Decide whether product data stands alone or belongs to a wider master data programme, then test both with your own products, suppliers and channels. Talk to us if you would like a hand: we will gladly help you run that test with your own data, vendor-neutral.
Independent advice that starts from your requirements, not from a platform.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Bluestone PIM and Informatica Product 360?
Bluestone PIM is a headless, API-first SaaS PIM on AWS for product data, with a native DAM, AI skills and an MCP server. Informatica, owned by Salesforce since November 2025, sells Product 360, a PIM that runs on-premises, in its Cloud Hosted Service or as Product 360 SaaS on IDMC, next to Multidomain MDM for customer, supplier, material and location data. Which difference matters depends on whether product data stands alone in your programme and where you want to host.
Do Bluestone PIM and Informatica publish their prices?
No. Bluestone PIM gives a price range after discussing requirements, based on usage such as users, SKUs and languages. Informatica quotes on request, shows sample price ranges per use case and sells cloud services in Informatica Processing Units, and it publishes no metric for on-premises Product 360. Ask both which metrics drive cost and compare offers over three to five years.
Can you run Bluestone PIM or Product 360 on-premises?
Bluestone PIM is offered as multi-tenant SaaS on AWS only, with production regions in Europe, the US and Singapore. Product 360 can be installed on-premises on Windows or Linux servers, run in Informatica's Cloud Hosted Service, or used as Product 360 SaaS, a separate application on IDMC. If hosting is a hard requirement, ask both to confirm the options in writing.
How do the AI features of Bluestone PIM and Informatica compare?
Both offer MCP access for outside AI tools. Bluestone PIM's conversational AI Agent dates from October 2025, its AI skills run on a model the customer picks, and its MCP server has 89 tools that read and write products, catalogues, assets and tasks. Informatica's Data Quality Agent and native MCP support are generally available from Spring 2026, while the CLAIRE Product Experience Agent for Product 360, which structures supplier data from PDFs and spreadsheets, is in private preview. Test what is available on your own data at the time of your demo.
Which one fits a company that also needs customer or supplier master data?
Informatica's Multidomain MDM SaaS covers customer, supplier, material and location data, and Informatica says Product 360 links product data with customer, supplier and material data. Its Material 360 and Supplier 360 extensions exchange records with SAP ECC and S/4HANA in batch jobs. Bluestone PIM manages product data only, so those domains would stay in other systems. Decide the scope of your programme before you compare demos.
How do you choose between Bluestone PIM and Informatica Product 360?
Write down your requirements first, including whether product data is part of a wider master data programme. Then run a scripted demo in which both vendors model your own products, import a real supplier file and publish to one of your channels. Compare the offers over three to five years, including modules, connectors and partner work.

How this comparison was built
We compared the two vendors on public information only: their own websites, documentation and press releases, plus reporting that names its source. We did not run either product for this page and we do not score or rank. Where a vendor does not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing.
We have a relationship with every vendor on our platform. None gets preferential treatment: all are compared in the same way, on the same factors, for our customers.
