MDM comparison
Informatica Product 360 vs Syndigo
Two vendors that run multidomain MDM as SaaS next to a PIM. How Informatica and Syndigo differ on domains, matching, governance, architecture, AI and pricing, from public sources only.
Same category, two different emphases
Informatica Product 360
In its own words “AI needs trusted context. It starts with MDM”7
A US data management vendor, owned by Salesforce since November 2025 and now trading as Informatica from Salesforce. Its master data offering combines Multidomain MDM and packaged 360 applications, run as SaaS on its Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) with CLAIRE AI, and Product 360, a PIM that also runs on-premises.
Syndigo
In its own words “We help great products get chosen”25
A Chicago vendor backed by private equity that combines PIM, multi-domain MDM (largely from its 2021 Riversand acquisition), a GS1-certified GDSN data pool and a syndication network it says links 15,000+ brands and 3,500+ retailers. It added 1WorldSync, including PowerReviews, in 2025 and Taggstar in 2026. The platform runs as SaaS on Microsoft Azure.

“An MDM platform earns its place after go-live. Pick the one whose matching, survivorship and stewardship your own team can run on a normal Monday.”
What they have in common
Read the differences below against this common ground. Both are credible options for the same broad job.
- Both run multidomain MDM next to a PIM: product, customer, supplier or vendor, and location data are domains on both sides.
- Both combine rules with machine learning in matching: declarative rules and steward-trained match models at Informatica, deterministic and ML-based match rules at Syndigo.
- Both let match confidence decide between automatic and manual merge, with data stewards reviewing the uncertain cases.
- Both run their MDM as SaaS with SOC 2 Type 2 reports, and neither publishes a price list.
- Both announced Leader placements in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for PIM.

01 · How they differData domains and scope
Informatica's Multidomain MDM SaaS lists domains such as material, cost centre, employee, finance and reference data next to product, customer, supplier and location, and reaches GDSN data pools through an add-on to Product 360. Syndigo masters product, B2B customer, vendor and location data, and operates a GS1-certified GDSN data pool and a syndication network of its own.
Which kinds of master data each platform manages, and how far it reaches into product content and retailer networks. This decides whether one platform can carry the whole programme or needs others around it.
Data domains
Customer, product, supplier, location, cost centre, material, employee, asset, finance and reference data in Multidomain MDM SaaS. Packaged 360 applications cover customer, product, supplier, finance and reference data.87
Product, B2B customer, vendor and location data on one cloud-native MDM. Assets are mentioned without further detail.35
Product content and PXM
Product 360, a separate PIM that Informatica markets as agentic AI PIM for commerce, linking product data with customer, supplier and material domains.9
GDSN and data pools
The GDSN Accelerator, an add-on to Product 360, connects to 1WorldSync Item Management and the atrify data pool.10
Syndication to retailers
Product 360 lists intelligent syndication of product information to sales and marketing channels. We found no published list of retailer connectors.9
Ask both vendors
- Which of our domains (product, customer, supplier, location, asset) run on one data model, and which need a separate module?
- Show one supplier that is also a customer: how do the records relate?
- Which retailer and data-pool connections do you operate yourselves?
02 · How they differMatching, golden record and data quality
Informatica describes attribute-level survivorship through its Trust Framework, point-in-time hierarchies and checks such as DUNS, SWIFT/BIC and NPI. Syndigo combines deterministic and ML-based match rules with a match profiler and moves records through Source, Address and Golden Record Management stages; its survivorship rules are not publicly described.
How each platform finds duplicates, decides which value wins and keeps data clean. This is the core of master data management, and where demos are easiest to stage and hardest to prove.
Match and merge
Declarative match rules with indexing and blocking, plus match models that stewards train on labelled pairs. High-confidence matches merge automatically; low-confidence ones go to review.8
Deterministic and ML-based match rules, with standardisation and a match profiler. A match-score threshold decides between automatic and manual merge.49
Golden record and survivorship
Attribute-level survivorship through what Informatica calls a patented Trust Framework, weighing source, most common value, recency and completeness. Trust rules run on merge, source update and unmerge.8
Records pass through Source, Address and Golden Record Management stages. We found no public description of survivorship rules.49
Data quality
Batch and real-time profiling, standardisation, validation and enrichment, with DUNS, SWIFT/BIC and NPI checks and address, phone and email verification.8
Hierarchies and relationships
Balanced, unbalanced, ragged and recursive hierarchies, with one entity in several hierarchies and point-in-time versions. CLAIRE can infer relationships across domains.8
Ask both vendors
- Run matching on an extract of our own duplicates and show the false positives.
- How do survivorship rules handle two trusted sources that disagree?
- Who maintains the matching rules after go-live: business users or specialists?
03 · How they differGovernance and stewardship
Informatica offers prebuilt multi-step approval workflows with separation of duties, a low-code designer and a steward task inbox with conditional SLAs. Syndigo configures golden record workflows in MDM and approval workflows in PIM, defines Data Steward and Data Governor roles, and logs the actions of its Synapse agents for audit.
How changes are proposed, approved and traced, and what data stewards work in every day. Governance decides whether the golden record stays golden after the project team leaves.
Workflow and approvals
Prebuilt multi-step approval workflows and a low-code drag-and-drop designer. Separation of duties between creators and approvers can be enforced.8
Stewardship tools
Ask both vendors
- Show a change request from a business user to an approved record, with the audit trail.
- What does a data steward's worklist look like on a normal Monday?
- How do we prove to an auditor who changed what, and when?
04 · How they differArchitecture and integration
Informatica runs MDM SaaS on IDMC in regional PODs, including Microsoft Azure and Oracle options, and moves SAP material and supplier records in batch jobs through its 360 extensions. Syndigo runs on Microsoft Azure with REST Integration APIs, EDI and Integration Studio, and lists SAP in its App Marketplace without describing an S/4HANA connector.
How each platform is hosted and how it connects to ERP, CRM and commerce systems. MDM sits in the middle of the landscape, so integration effort often outweighs licence cost.
Hosting
APIs
Ask both vendors
- Which connectors for our ERP and CRM are yours, and which are built by partners?
- How do changes reach downstream systems: batch, events or APIs?
- Where is our data hosted, and can we choose the region?
05 · How they differAI features
Informatica's Data Quality Agent and native MCP support are generally available from Spring 2026, with a Data Steward Agent due in Q4 2026. Syndigo launched its Synapse agentic platform on the MDM in March 2026 and SynapseGo agents in April 2026, and publishes product feeds into ChatGPT through OpenAI Connect; we found no Syndigo MCP server.
What AI does inside each platform, as announced by the vendor, from matching and data quality to agents. Treat this as a snapshot and test on your own data.
Agents in the platform
AI in matching and data quality
CLAIRE trains match models from steward-labelled pairs, explains match scores and recommends data quality rules in MDM SaaS.8
Access for outside AI tools
Headless Data Management with native MCP support, generally available from Spring 2026. Informatica says golden records can be reached through MCP servers, including from Claude and Slack.67
We found no MCP server. OpenAI Connect, from October 2025, publishes product feeds into ChatGPT under OpenAI's Agentic Commerce Protocol.44
Ask both vendors
- Which AI features are in the subscription, and which are priced per use?
- Show AI-suggested matches on our data, with the reasoning a steward sees.
- Where is our data processed, and is it used to train models?
06 · How they differPricing and deployment
Neither publishes prices. Informatica sells Informatica Processing Units, or MDM per domain on a records basis, while Syndigo sells Product Experience Cloud editions for Brands and for Retail and does not publish its pricing unit.
How each vendor packages and deploys its platform. Compare offers over three to five years, including domains, connectors, partner work and your own stewardship team.
Published prices
None. The pricing page offers quotes and sample price ranges per use case.13
None. The Product Experience Cloud pages direct buyers to sales.33
Packages
No packages: Informatica Processing Units (IPUs) give access to all eligible cloud services. MDM can also be bought per domain on a records basis.13
Ask both vendors
- Which metrics drive the price: records, domains, users, connectors or environments?
- How are renewals priced, and is there a cap on increases?
- What does adding a second domain cost in year two?
07 · How they differPartners and implementation
Informatica names global system integrators such as Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte and TCS, with Distributor, Platinum, Gold and Silver badges for channel partners. Syndigo cites 100+ solution integrators and technology partners in two partner types, without published tier levels.
Who implements the platform. MDM programmes run for years, so the partner's experience in your industry and ERP matters as much as the software.
Ask both vendors
- Which partners in our region have delivered a multi-domain programme like ours?
- What does your own team do during the implementation, and what is left to the partner?
- Can we speak to two customers that run more than one domain on your platform?
08 · How they differAnalyst coverage
Both announced Leader placements in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for PIM. In MDM, Informatica announced Leader placements in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant and The Forrester Wave, Q2 2025, while Syndigo was a Strong Performer in that Wave and we found no Syndigo statement on its 2026 Gartner MDM placement.

Ask both vendors
- Which of the analyst's criteria match our requirements, and where did you score lowest?
Where each tends to fit
Teams tend to shortlist Informatica Product 360 when
- the programme reaches beyond product into domains such as material, finance, employee or reference data
- survivorship has to weigh source, recency and completeness attribute by attribute
- SAP material and supplier records should flow between ECC or S/4HANA and the MDM through prebuilt extensions
- agents and tools such as Claude or Slack should reach golden records over MCP
Teams tend to shortlist Syndigo when
- product data has to reach retailers through a GDSN data pool and a syndication network run by the same vendor
- the MDM programme sits next to PIM, rich media, digital shelf analytics and reviews from one vendor
- location data needs address validation and geospatial checks, or vendor data needs supplier hierarchies
- the IT landscape runs on Microsoft Azure and the team wants SaaS only

Expert view
Informatica Product 360 or Syndigo: it depends on your requirements
Informatica and Syndigo have more in common than a first look suggests: both run multidomain MDM next to a PIM, both mix rules and machine learning in matching, and both run their MDM as SaaS. The differences show up at the edges of an MDM programme: which domains you need beyond product and customer, how survivorship is configured, how records reach SAP, and how far product data has to travel to retailers.
Informatica's Multidomain MDM, with its Trust Framework, CLAIRE and MCP access, suits teams that treat master data as part of a wider data management estate. Syndigo's MDM, with its own GDSN data pool, syndication network and Synapse agents, suits teams whose master data has to end up with many retailers and data pool partners. Neither strength matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
What works best for you depends on your unique requirements. Write them down, then let both vendors match and merge an extract of your own records and show the audit trail. We are happy to help you test both with your own duplicates and domains, vendor-neutral.
Independent advice that starts from your requirements, not from a platform.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Informatica Product 360 and Syndigo?
Both run multidomain MDM as SaaS and sell a PIM next to it. Informatica, owned by Salesforce since November 2025, splits its offer between Multidomain MDM SaaS on IDMC and Product 360, a PIM that can also run on-premises. Syndigo, backed by private equity, combines its MDM with a GS1-certified GDSN data pool and a syndication network, and runs on Microsoft Azure. Which difference matters depends on your domains and on where your data has to go.
Which data domains do Informatica and Syndigo cover?
Informatica's Multidomain MDM SaaS lists customer, product, supplier, location, cost centre, material, employee, asset, finance and reference data. Syndigo's MDM covers product, B2B customer, vendor and location data, and mentions assets without further detail. Ask both to show one supplier that is also a customer, linked across domains.
Do Informatica and Syndigo publish their prices?
No. Informatica quotes on request, shows sample price ranges per use case and sells cloud services in Informatica Processing Units, and MDM can also be bought per domain on a records basis. Syndigo publishes no prices or package tiers and sells Product Experience Cloud editions for Brands and for Retail. Ask both which metrics drive cost and compare offers over three to five years.
Do Informatica and Syndigo run in the cloud or on-premises?
Informatica runs Multidomain MDM and the 360 applications as SaaS on IDMC, and Product 360 also runs on-premises or in Informatica's Cloud Hosted Service. Syndigo describes its PIM and MDM as cloud-native SaaS on Microsoft Azure, and we found no private-cloud or on-premise option. If you need to host part of the platform yourself, ask both for the current options in writing.
How do Informatica and Syndigo use AI in matching and stewardship?
Informatica's CLAIRE trains match models from steward-labelled pairs, explains match scores and recommends data quality rules, and a Data Steward Agent is due in Q4 2026. Syndigo uses ML-based match rules next to deterministic ones in Customer MDM, and an AI GoPilot flags anomalies and duplicates and runs match and merge across sources. Ask both to show AI-suggested matches on your own data, with the reasoning a steward sees.
How do you choose between Informatica and Syndigo?
Start with your domains, your sources and the places your data has to reach. Then run a scripted demo in which both vendors match and merge an extract of your own duplicates, route a change through approval and publish the result to one ERP and one retailer. Compare the offers over three to five years, including domains, connectors, partner work and your own stewardship team.

How this comparison was built
We compared the two vendors on public information only: their own websites, documentation and press releases, plus reporting that names its source. We did not run either product for this page and we do not score or rank. Where a vendor does not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing.
We have a relationship with every vendor on our platform. None gets preferential treatment: all are compared in the same way, on the same factors, for our customers.
