MDM comparison
Informatica Product 360 vs Stibo Systems
Two multidomain MDM vendors that also sell PIM. How Informatica, with Multidomain MDM and Product 360, and Stibo Systems, with STEP, differ on domains, matching, governance, AI and pricing, from public sources only.
Same category, two different emphases
Informatica Product 360
In its own words “AI needs trusted context. It starts with MDM”7
A US data management vendor, owned by Salesforce since November 2025 and now trading as Informatica from Salesforce. Its master data offering combines Multidomain MDM and packaged 360 applications, run as SaaS on its Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) with CLAIRE AI, and Product 360, a PIM that also runs on-premises.
Stibo Systems
In its own words “A leading provider of AI-powered master data management”31
A Danish master data management vendor, founded in 1976 and owned through the Stibo group by the Stibo Foundation. Its STEP platform manages product, customer, business partner, supplier and location data, with PIM, supplier onboarding and syndication packaged as the Product Experience Data Cloud. STEP runs as multi-tenant SaaS on Microsoft Azure, and on-premises releases continue.

“Both match, merge and govern across domains. Choose on how they handle your own duplicates, approvals and ERP links in a demo, not on feature lists.”
What they have in common
Read the differences below against this common ground. Both are credible options for the same broad job.
- Both are multidomain MDM platforms: product, customer, supplier and location data are among the domains each one manages.
- Both sell a PIM next to their MDM: Product 360 at Informatica, the Product Experience Data Cloud at Stibo Systems.
- Both sort matches by score, merging confident matches automatically and sending uncertain ones to data stewards for review.
- Both run as SaaS and keep an on-premises route: Product 360 at Informatica, STEP at Stibo Systems.
- Neither publishes a price list, and both announced Leader placements in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for MDM and The Forrester Wave for MDM, Q2 2025.

01 · How they differData domains and scope
Informatica's Multidomain MDM SaaS lists domains such as material, cost centre, employee, asset, finance and reference data next to customer, product, supplier and location, with Product 360 as a separate PIM. Stibo Systems sells each domain, including sustainability, as its own Data Cloud on the STEP platform, and both connect to the atrify data pool and 1WorldSync, Informatica through a GDSN add-on to Product 360.
Which kinds of master data each platform manages, and how far it reaches into product content and retailer networks. This decides whether one platform can carry the whole programme or needs others around it.
Data domains
Customer, product, supplier, location, cost centre, material, employee, asset, finance and reference data in Multidomain MDM SaaS. Packaged 360 applications cover customer, product, supplier, finance and reference data.87
Product, customer, business partner, supplier, location and sustainability data, each sold as a Data Cloud on the STEP platform.33
Product content and PXM
Product 360, a separate PIM that Informatica markets as agentic AI PIM for commerce, linking product data with customer, supplier and material domains.9
The Product Experience Data Cloud: PIM, product onboarding, syndication, digital asset management and digital shelf analytics, with ProductGen AI for content.34
GDSN and data pools
The GDSN Accelerator, an add-on to Product 360, connects to 1WorldSync Item Management and the atrify data pool.10
Syndication to retailers
Product 360 lists intelligent syndication of product information to sales and marketing channels. We found no published list of retailer connectors.9
Product Data Syndication to retailers, distributors and marketplaces, with Excel, JSON, XML and BMEcat output for custom channels.35
Ask both vendors
- Which of our domains (product, customer, supplier, location, asset) run on one data model, and which need a separate module?
- Show one supplier that is also a customer: how do the records relate?
- Which retailer and data-pool connections do you operate yourselves?
02 · How they differMatching, golden record and data quality
Informatica describes declarative match rules, match models that stewards train on labelled pairs and attribute-level survivorship through its Trust Framework, which weighs source, most common value, recency and completeness. Stibo Systems works with auto-merge, clerical review and non-match bands, survivorship rules with trusted source priority and an unmerge in the Web UI, and validates addresses and firmographics through Loqate and Dun & Bradstreet.
How each platform finds duplicates, decides which value wins and keeps data clean. This is the core of master data management, and where demos are easiest to stage and hardest to prove.
Match and merge
Declarative match rules with indexing and blocking, plus match models that stewards train on labelled pairs. High-confidence matches merge automatically; low-confidence ones go to review.8
Golden record and survivorship
Attribute-level survivorship through what Informatica calls a patented Trust Framework, weighing source, most common value, recency and completeness. Trust rules run on merge, source update and unmerge.8
Data quality
Batch and real-time profiling, standardisation, validation and enrichment, with DUNS, SWIFT/BIC and NPI checks and address, phone and email verification.8
Profiling, validation rules, completeness scores and a quality metric from 1 to 100 per object, with address and firmographic validation through Loqate and Dun & Bradstreet.36
Hierarchies and relationships
Balanced, unbalanced, ragged and recursive hierarchies, with one entity in several hierarchies and point-in-time versions. CLAIRE can infer relationships across domains.8
Ask both vendors
- Run matching on an extract of our own duplicates and show the false positives.
- How do survivorship rules handle two trusted sources that disagree?
- Who maintains the matching rules after go-live: business users or specialists?
03 · How they differGovernance and stewardship
Informatica offers prebuilt multi-step approval workflows, a low-code designer and a steward task inbox with conditional SLAs, while end-to-end lineage sits in its separate governance products. Stibo Systems builds workflows in the STEP Workflow Designer, routes possible matches to a clerical review workflow and describes audit trails, lineage tracking and version control in the platform.
How changes are proposed, approved and traced, and what data stewards work in every day. Governance decides whether the golden record stays golden after the project team leaves.
Workflow and approvals
Prebuilt multi-step approval workflows and a low-code drag-and-drop designer. Separation of duties between creators and approvers can be enforced.8
Workflows built in the STEP Workflow Designer, with assignees, deadlines and escalation rules per state, and conditions on transitions.50
Stewardship tools
Ask both vendors
- Show a change request from a business user to an approved record, with the audit trail.
- What does a data steward's worklist look like on a normal Monday?
- How do we prove to an auditor who changed what, and when?
04 · How they differArchitecture and integration
Informatica runs MDM SaaS on IDMC in regional PODs, including a Swiss Azure POD and an Oracle Dedicated Region option, and moves SAP material and supplier records in batch jobs through its Material 360 and Supplier 360 extensions. Stibo Systems runs multi-tenant SaaS on Microsoft Azure, offers REST, GraphQL and message-based exchange over channels such as Kafka, and connects to SAP through its own IDoc connectors for material, customer and vendor data.
How each platform is hosted and how it connects to ERP, CRM and commerce systems. MDM sits in the middle of the landscape, so integration effort often outweighs licence cost.
Hosting
APIs
Ask both vendors
- Which connectors for our ERP and CRM are yours, and which are built by partners?
- How do changes reach downstream systems: batch, events or APIs?
- Where is our data hosted, and can we choose the region?
05 · How they differAI features
Both train AI matching on steward input and both open master data to outside agents over MCP. Informatica's Data Quality Agent and MCP support are generally available from Spring 2026, with a Data Steward Agent due in Q4 2026, while Stibo Systems' MCP Server dates from June 2026 and its AgentWorkx agents, announced in September 2026, are listed as coming soon.
What AI does inside each platform, as announced by the vendor, from matching and data quality to agents. Treat this as a snapshot and test on your own data.
Agents in the platform
AI in matching and data quality
CLAIRE trains match models from steward-labelled pairs, explains match scores and recommends data quality rules in MDM SaaS.8
Ask both vendors
- Which AI features are in the subscription, and which are priced per use?
- Show AI-suggested matches on our data, with the reasoning a steward sees.
- Where is our data processed, and is it used to train models?
06 · How they differPricing and deployment
Neither publishes prices. Informatica sells cloud services in Informatica Processing Units, or MDM per domain on a records basis, while Stibo Systems splits its offer into Data Clouds per domain and does not publish its pricing unit.
How each vendor packages and deploys its platform. Compare offers over three to five years, including domains, connectors, partner work and your own stewardship team.
Published prices
None. The pricing page offers quotes and sample price ranges per use case.13
None published on stibosystems.com.25
Packages
No packages: Informatica Processing Units (IPUs) give access to all eligible cloud services. MDM can also be bought per domain on a records basis.13
No named tiers. The offer is split into Data Clouds per domain: Product Experience, Customer Experience, Business Partner, Supplier, Location and Sustainability.33
Ask both vendors
- Which metrics drive the price: records, domains, users, connectors or environments?
- How are renewals priced, and is there a cap on increases?
- What does adding a second domain cost in year two?
07 · How they differPartners and implementation
Informatica names global system integrators such as Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte and TCS, and gives channel partners Distributor, Platinum, Gold and Silver badges. Stibo Systems lists 70 partners in its directory and runs Partner 360, with Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze tiers and a points system.
Who implements the platform. MDM programmes run for years, so the partner's experience in your industry and ERP matters as much as the software.
Partner network
Cloud ecosystem, technology, global system integrator and channel partners. Named integrators include Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte and TCS.21
70 partners in the partner directory when we checked, in implementation and referral roles across four regions.59
Ask both vendors
- Which partners in our region have delivered a multi-domain programme like ours?
- What does your own team do during the implementation, and what is left to the partner?
- Can we speak to two customers that run more than one domain on your platform?
08 · How they differAnalyst coverage
Both announced Leader placements in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrants for MDM and PIM and in The Forrester Wave for MDM, Q2 2025, so these reports do little to separate them. On IDC, Stibo Systems cites Leader placements in PIM editions from 2024-2025 and 2025, while the latest IDC placement Informatica cites is from 2019-2020.
Where analyst firms placed each vendor in recent editions, as announced by the vendor or the analyst. Analysts weigh criteria you may not share, so read this as a map of the market, not a ranking for your project.
Gartner Magic Quadrant for MDM, latest edition
Leader in the 2026 edition, published 6 April 2026 and listing the vendor as Salesforce (Informatica), as announced by Informatica. Informatica counts seven Leader placements in this Magic Quadrant.22

IDC MarketScape, latest PIM or MDM edition
Leader for Product 360 in the 2019-2020 IDC MarketScape for worldwide PIM applications for commerce. We found no Informatica statement on a later IDC MarketScape for PIM or MDM.24
Ask both vendors
- Which of the analyst's criteria match our requirements, and where did you score lowest?
Where each tends to fit
Teams tend to shortlist Informatica Product 360 when
- the programme reaches beyond product into domains such as material, finance, employee or reference data
- survivorship has to weigh source, recency and completeness attribute by attribute
- MDM should run as SaaS while the PIM, Product 360, stays on-premises or hosted by the vendor
- the requirements name certifications such as SOC 1, SOC 3 or FedRAMP Moderate
Teams tend to shortlist Stibo Systems when
- product, customer, supplier and location data should share one platform, bought domain by domain as Data Clouds
- product content, onboarding, syndication and digital shelf analytics belong in the same programme as master data
- SAP material, customer and vendor masters should move over IDoc connectors built by the vendor
- the IT landscape runs on Microsoft Azure, with on-premises STEP kept as an option

Expert view
Informatica Product 360 or Stibo Systems: it depends on your requirements
Informatica and Stibo Systems cover the same MDM basics: both run multidomain MDM next to a PIM, both send uncertain matches to stewards, and both were named Leaders in the same Gartner and Forrester MDM reports. The differences show up once the programme starts: which domains you master first, how survivorship treats sources that disagree, how records move to and from SAP, and where you want the platform to run.
Informatica's Multidomain MDM, with its Trust Framework, CLAIRE and domains such as material and finance, suits teams that treat master data as part of a wider data management estate. Stibo Systems' STEP, with a Data Cloud per domain and a product experience suite on the same platform, suits teams that want master data and product content governed in one place. Neither strength matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
What works best for you depends on your unique requirements. Write them down first, then ask both vendors to match, merge and approve an extract of your own records. We are happy to help you test both with your own duplicates and domains, vendor-neutral.
Independent advice that starts from your requirements, not from a platform.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Informatica Product 360 and Stibo Systems?
Both manage several master data domains and sell a PIM alongside. Informatica, owned by Salesforce since November 2025, splits its offer between Multidomain MDM SaaS on IDMC and Product 360, a separate PIM that can also run on-premises. Stibo Systems runs product, customer, supplier, location and other domains as Data Clouds on one STEP platform, and is owned through the Stibo group by the Stibo Foundation. Which difference matters depends on your domains, your ERP and where you want to host.
Which data domains do Informatica and Stibo Systems cover?
Informatica's Multidomain MDM SaaS lists customer, product, supplier, location, cost centre, material, employee, asset, finance and reference data, with packaged 360 applications for several of them. Stibo Systems covers product, customer, business partner, supplier, location and sustainability data, each sold as a Data Cloud on STEP. Ask both to show a supplier that is also a customer, linked across domains.
Do Informatica and Stibo Systems publish their prices?
No. Informatica quotes on request, shows sample price ranges per use case and sells cloud services in Informatica Processing Units, and MDM can also be bought per domain on a records basis. Stibo Systems publishes no prices and no pricing unit, and splits its offer into Data Clouds per domain. Compare offers over three to five years, including domains, connectors and partner work.
Can Informatica and Stibo Systems run on-premises?
Partly, on both sides. Informatica runs Multidomain MDM and the 360 applications as SaaS on IDMC, while Product 360 also runs on-premises or in Informatica's Cloud Hosted Service, and Informatica lists an MDM Hosted product. Stibo Systems runs multi-tenant SaaS on Microsoft Azure, which it says 77% of its customers had adopted in FY 2025-26, and still releases on-premises STEP; a current private-cloud option is not published.
How do Informatica and Stibo Systems use AI in matching and stewardship?
Informatica's CLAIRE trains match models from steward-labelled pairs, explains match scores and recommends data quality rules, and a Data Steward Agent is due in Q4 2026. Stibo Systems added AI and machine-learning matching for customer records in July 2025, learning from steward feedback, and ProductGen AI lets users write data quality rules in natural language. Release cycles are short on both sides, so test them on your own duplicates.
How do you choose between Informatica and Stibo Systems?
Write down your domains, sources and approval steps first. Then run a scripted demo in which both vendors match and merge an extract of your own duplicates, route a change through approval and send the result to your ERP. Compare the offers over three to five years, including domains, connectors, partner work and your own stewardship team.

How this comparison was built
We compared the two vendors on public information only: their own websites, documentation and press releases, plus reporting that names its source. We did not run either product for this page and we do not score or rank. Where a vendor does not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing.
We have a relationship with every vendor on our platform. None gets preferential treatment: all are compared in the same way, on the same factors, for our customers.
