PIM comparison
Centric PXM vs Stibo Systems
A SaaS product experience suite and a multidomain MDM platform with PIM. How Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, and Stibo Systems differ on scope, channels, AI, architecture and pricing, from public sources only.
Same category, two different emphases
Centric PXM
In its own words “AI-powered product experience management”9
Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is the product experience management suite of Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary that agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025. It combines PIM and DAM with content syndication through Centric Shoppingfeed, digital shelf analytics and an Onboarding Portal for supplier data. It is aimed at brands, manufacturers, retailers and distributors, and Centric says it connects natively to Centric PLM and its planning and pricing products.
Stibo Systems
In its own words “A leading provider of AI-powered master data management”34
A Danish master data management vendor, founded in 1976 and owned through the Stibo group by the Stibo Foundation. Its STEP platform manages product, customer, business partner, supplier and location data, with PIM, supplier onboarding and syndication packaged as the Product Experience Data Cloud. STEP runs as multi-tenant SaaS on Microsoft Azure, and on-premises releases continue.

“Settle the scope first: product content alone, or product content inside a wider master data programme. Then test both with your own products and ERP.”
What they have in common
Read the differences below against this common ground. Both are credible options for the same broad job.
- Both offer a PIM with digital asset management, supplier onboarding, syndication and digital shelf analytics, as Centric PXM modules or as parts of Stibo Systems' Product Experience Data Cloud.
- Both use AI on incoming supplier data: Centric PXM's Onboarding Portal validates and maps it, and Stibo Systems has offered AI attribute mapping since July 2025.
- Both support ETIM and ECLASS: Centric PXM through a paid Classification Library app, Stibo Systems in its data model, which also supports TecDoc and BMEcat.
- Both announced agent platforms in September 2026: Centric AI for the whole Centric portfolio, and AgentWorkx at Stibo Systems.
- Both list ISO 27001 and SOC 2, and neither publishes prices or offers an open-source edition.

01 · How they differProduct scope and packaging
Centric PXM keeps to product content, with no customer, supplier or location domains and no print module of its own. Stibo Systems runs customer, business partner, supplier and location data on the same STEP platform, each as its own Data Cloud, and adds STEP Publisher for Adobe InDesign and a PDX Digital Catalog for retailers.
What each vendor sells around the product record, and how it is packaged. Packaging decides what is in the licence, what costs extra, and who you call when something breaks.
Core PIM
The PIM sits at the core of Centric PXM, with DAM, syndication and digital shelf analytics around it.12
PIM is part of the Product Experience Data Cloud, built on the STEP platform.37
Master data beyond products
Product content only: no customer, supplier or location domains in the Centric PXM line-up.1
Customer, business partner, supplier and location data run on the same STEP platform, each as its own Data Cloud.36
Supplier onboarding
The Onboarding Portal, where AI validates and maps supplier and brand data before it reaches the PIM.12
Product Data Onboarding, with a supplier portal, validation rules and AI-driven data mapping.39
Digital assets
Centric DAM, with AI tagging, similarity search, versioning and rights-checked delivery per channel.2
Syndication
Centric Shoppingfeed, from Contentserv's 2023 purchase of Shoppingfeed, with 1,000+ channel templates and marketplace order sync.37
Product Data Syndication, a service in the Product Experience Data Cloud.40
Channel performance analytics
Centric DSA tracks prices, availability, content, ratings and sentiment, and sends weak SKUs back to the PIM.4
Sharing with partners
Not published: no statement on a portal for sharing catalogues with distributors or retailers.
PDX Digital Catalog for sharing authorised content with retailers, and API delivery to global partners.41
Print and publishing
No print module in the Centric PXM line-up. Partner apps, such as InBetween's Digital Publishing Connector, produce catalogues and data sheets, including InDesign layouts.11619
STEP Publisher, a plug-in that places product data and assets in Adobe InDesign, including whole catalogues.46
Ask both vendors
- Which of our requirements are in the base subscription, and which are separate modules, add-ons or partner apps?
- Who supports a partner app when it breaks: you, the partner or us?
- Can we add a module later without a new implementation project?
02 · How they differData model and governance
Centric PXM models hierarchies, attributes, relationships, variants and regional assortments, with built-in workflows for tasks and approvals. Stibo Systems models object types linked by references, with values that vary by language or country, a weighted completeness score and the graphical STEP Workflow Designer.
How products, variants and relationships are modelled, and how each platform keeps data complete and approved. This decides how much of your catalogue fits without workarounds.
Modelling approach
Ask both vendors
- Model our three hardest products live: a configurable item, a bundle and a spare part with fitment data.
- How do completeness rules differ per channel and per locale?
- What does a change to the data model cost once we are live?
03 · How they differSyndication and channels
Centric PXM syndicates through Centric Shoppingfeed, with 1,000+ endpoints such as Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop and Google Shopping and connections to platforms such as Shopify and VTEX. Stibo Systems' Product Data Syndication reaches retailers such as Amazon, Walmart and The Home Depot and data pools through 1WorldSync, and its NIQ Brandbank partnership covers 700 retailers and wholesalers in 39 markets, as stated by Stibo Systems.
How product content leaves the PIM: to your own webshop, to marketplaces and retailers, and to commerce platforms. If the number of channels is your bottleneck, this factor weighs more than the editing screens.
Delivery to retailers and marketplaces
Centric Shoppingfeed reaches 1,000+ endpoints, among them Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop and Google Shopping. The marketplace lists a free GDSN Food & Beverage data model.316
Product Data Syndication reaches retailers such as Amazon, Walmart and The Home Depot, and data pools through 1WorldSync. A partnership with NIQ Brandbank covers 700 retailers and wholesalers in 39 markets, as stated by Stibo Systems.40
Ask both vendors
- Show a live feed to one marketplace we use, including what happens when the channel rejects an item.
- Which channel connectors do you maintain yourselves, and which do partners maintain?
- When a retailer changes its template, who updates the mapping, and at what cost?
04 · How they differAI features
Centric PXM states over 75 AI use cases and a paid AI Connector on the customer's own model account, and Centric announced Centric AI MCP without saying what it exposes or when it is available. Stibo Systems has offered an MCP Server with read-only and governed read and write modes since June 2026, and lists its AgentWorkx agents as coming soon.

- Where is our data processed, and is it used to train models?
05 · How they differArchitecture and integrations
Centric PXM is SaaS without a named host cloud or published stack, and names SAP among the ERP systems it connects to, without an SAP-certified connector we could find. Stibo Systems runs on Java as SaaS on Microsoft Azure or on premises, with REST, GraphQL and message-based exchange over channels such as Kafka, and builds IDoc connectors for SAP R/3, ECC and S/4HANA.

Where each tends to fit
Teams tend to shortlist Centric PXM when
- the scope is product content, and customer, supplier or location master data are managed elsewhere
- marketplace syndication, including order sync, should come from the PIM vendor itself
- product content should connect natively to Centric PLM or Centric's planning and pricing products
- AI should run on the team's own ChatGPT, Azure OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral account through a paid connector
Teams tend to shortlist Stibo Systems when
- customer, business partner, supplier or location data should run on the same platform as product data
- SAP R/3, ECC or S/4HANA should exchange material, customer and vendor master data through IDoc connectors built by the vendor
- the platform should run as SaaS on Microsoft Azure, or stay on premises
- print catalogues in Adobe InDesign should come from the same platform, through STEP Publisher

Expert view
Centric PXM or Stibo Systems: it depends on your requirements
Measured on product content alone, Centric PXM and Stibo Systems overlap widely: both offer a PIM with digital asset management, supplier onboarding with AI mapping, syndication and digital shelf analytics, and both announced agent platforms in September 2026. The differences show up beyond the product record: Centric PXM stays with product content and ties it to Centric PLM and planning tools, while Stibo Systems runs product, customer, supplier and location data on one STEP platform.
Centric PXM, with Centric Shoppingfeed, its Onboarding Portal and native links to Centric PLM, suits brands, manufacturers and retailers that want product content connected to the wider product lifecycle. Stibo Systems' STEP, with a Data Cloud per domain, IDoc connectors for SAP and on-premises releases, suits organisations whose PIM is one part of a master data programme. Neither profile matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
What works best for you depends on your unique requirements. Settle first how far beyond product content your programme reaches, then test both with your own products, suppliers and ERP data. Reach out and we will gladly help you plan that test, vendor-neutral.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Centric PXM and Stibo Systems?
Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is a SaaS suite for product content: a PIM with Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed, Centric DSA and an Onboarding Portal, connected natively to Centric PLM. Stibo Systems is a master data management vendor whose STEP platform runs product, customer, business partner, supplier and location data, with PIM, onboarding and syndication in its Product Experience Data Cloud, as SaaS on Microsoft Azure or on premises. Which difference matters depends on how far beyond product content your programme reaches.
What changed when Contentserv became Centric PXM?
Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary, agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025, and the deal announcement put Contentserv at 1,600+ customers in 90 countries. The product now runs as Centric PXM, with Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed and Centric DSA, and Centric says it connects natively to Centric PLM and its planning and pricing products. Fabrice Canonge has led Centric Software since October 2025, and a June 2025 release names Michael Kugler as Managing Director of Centric PXM.
Can Centric PXM or Stibo Systems manage master data beyond products?
Stibo Systems can: customer, business partner, supplier and location data run on the same STEP platform, each as its own Data Cloud, with survivorship rules for golden records and a clerical review workflow for data stewards. Centric PXM keeps to product content, with no customer, supplier or location domains in its line-up. If master data beyond products is in scope, include it in both demos.
Do Centric PXM and Stibo Systems publish prices, and how are they deployed?
Neither publishes prices. Centric PXM's pages point to a demo request and name no editions or price unit, and it is sold as SaaS, with no current statement on an on-premise licence. Stibo Systems splits its offer into Data Clouds per domain, runs as multi-tenant SaaS on Microsoft Azure and still releases on-premises STEP. Compare offers over three to five years, including modules, connectors and partner work.
How do Centric PXM and Stibo Systems connect to SAP?
Stibo Systems builds IDoc connectors for SAP R/3, ECC and S/4HANA, covering material, customer and vendor master data through MATMAS, DEBMAS and CREMAS. Centric PXM names SAP among the ERP systems it connects to through connectors and APIs, and we found no SAP-certified connector. Ask both to show a material sync with your own SAP system.
How do you choose between Centric PXM and Stibo Systems?
Write down your requirements first, including which data domains are in scope now and which may follow. Then run a scripted demo in which both vendors model your own products, import a real supplier file and sync with your ERP. Compare the offers over three to five years, including modules or Data Clouds, connectors and partner work.

How this comparison was built
We compared the two vendors on public information only: their own websites, documentation and press releases, plus reporting that names its source. We did not run either product for this page and we do not score or rank. Where a vendor does not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing.
We have a relationship with every vendor on our platform. None gets preferential treatment: all are compared in the same way, on the same factors, for our customers.
