PIM comparison
Centric PXM vs Plytix
Two SaaS PIMs with a DAM for product content. How Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, and Plytix differ on scope, data model, channels, AI, architecture and pricing, from public sources only.
Same category, two different emphases
Centric PXM
In its own words “AI-powered product experience management”9
Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is the product experience management suite of Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary that agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025. It combines PIM and DAM with content syndication through Centric Shoppingfeed, digital shelf analytics and an Onboarding Portal for supplier data. It is aimed at brands, manufacturers, retailers and distributors, and Centric says it connects natively to Centric PLM and its planning and pricing products.
Plytix
In its own words “The product information management (PIM) platform built for multichannel commerce”48
A SaaS PIM with a built-in DAM, run mostly from Málaga, Spain, and hosted on AWS in Ireland. Prices are published per month by SKU count, starting with a free plan, and feeds, brand portals, data sheets and store connectors are sold as add-ons. It is built for brands and retailers selling across webshops and marketplaces, many of them on Shopify.

“Both cover the product record. Count what you need around it, from supplier onboarding to feeds and portals, and price that over five years.”
What they have in common
Read the differences below against this common ground. Both are credible options for the same broad job.
- Both are SaaS platforms for product content only, with no customer, supplier or location domains in the line-up.
- Both pair the PIM with digital asset management: Centric DAM as a module, and a DAM built into every Plytix plan.
- Both name Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento and PrestaShop among the commerce platforms they connect to, and both feed marketplaces such as Amazon.
- Both have a route to Digital Product Passports: Centric DPP as a standalone Centric product, and Kolla as a Plytix tech partner.
- Neither offers an open-source edition, and Gartner's 2026 report places both as Niche Players, a placement we found no announcement of from either vendor.

Factor by factor

01 · How they differProduct scope and packaging
Centric PXM sells the Onboarding Portal, Centric Shoppingfeed and Centric DSA as modules around the PIM and DAM, with no print module of its own. Plytix builds the DAM into every plan and sells Feed Management, Brand Portals and Product Data Sheets as paid add-ons, with no supplier onboarding module or channel analytics.
What each vendor sells around the product record, and how it is packaged. Packaging decides what is in the licence, what costs extra, and who you call when something breaks.
Core PIM
The PIM sits at the core of Centric PXM, with DAM, syndication and digital shelf analytics around it.12

Sharing with partners
Not published: no statement on a portal for sharing catalogues with distributors or retailers.
Ask both vendors
- Which of our requirements are in the base subscription, and which are separate modules, add-ons or partner apps?
- Who supports a partner app when it breaks: you, the partner or us?
- Can we add a module later without a new implementation project?
02 · How they differData model and governance
Centric PXM models hierarchies, relationships, variants and regional assortments, with built-in approval workflows and a paid Classification Library for ETIM and ECLASS. Plytix groups attributes into product families with parents, variants and sub-variants, tracks completeness and offers roles, tasks and automations, and we found no approval workflow described.
How products, variants and relationships are modelled, and how each platform keeps data complete and approved. This decides how much of your catalogue fits without workarounds.
Modelling approach
Ask both vendors
- Model our three hardest products live: a configurable item, a bundle and a spare part with fitment data.
- How do completeness rules differ per channel and per locale?
- What does a change to the data model cost once we are live?
03 · How they differSyndication and channels
Centric PXM syndicates through Centric Shoppingfeed, with 1,000+ endpoints such as Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop and Google Shopping, plus marketplace order sync. Plytix builds feeds for marketplaces such as Amazon, Walmart, Zalando and Otto with its Feed Management add-on, and connects to feed tools such as ChannelEngine, Channable and Productsup.
How product content leaves the PIM: to your own webshop, to marketplaces and retailers, and to commerce platforms. If the number of channels is your bottleneck, this factor weighs more than the editing screens.
Delivery to retailers and marketplaces
Ask both vendors
- Show a live feed to one marketplace we use, including what happens when the channel rejects an item.
- Which channel connectors do you maintain yourselves, and which do partners maintain?
- When a retailer changes its template, who updates the mapping, and at what cost?
04 · How they differAI features
Centric PXM states over 75 AI use cases, uses AI to validate and map supplier data in its Onboarding Portal and sells an AI Connector on the customer's own model account. Plytix AI generates and translates content and edits images on monthly credits or the AI Unlimited add-on, with no agents announced and AI import mapping marked as coming soon.
What AI does inside each product, as announced by the vendor. Vendors ship AI features several times a year, so read this as a snapshot and test on your own data.
Agents in the platform
AI in onboarding
AI in the Onboarding Portal validates and maps incoming data. The paid AI Connector runs on the customer's own ChatGPT, Azure OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral account.218

- Run the enrichment on ten of our real products and show what a reviewer still has to correct.
- Where is our data processed, and is it used to train models?
05 · How they differArchitecture and integrations
Centric PXM is SaaS without a named host cloud or published stack, integrates through REST APIs, connectors and a marketplace of free and paid apps, and names SAP among the ERP systems it connects to. Plytix runs on AWS in Dublin, with a REST API limited by plan, webhooks from the Pro plan and an official Make app, and lists a generic ERP connection rather than an SAP connector.

- What are the API rate limits, and how long does a bulk import of our full catalogue take?
- Where is our data hosted, and can we choose the region?
06 · How they differPricing and licensing
Centric PXM publishes no prices, editions or price unit. Plytix publishes monthly prices by SKU count, from a free Standard plan at 100 SKUs to Enterprise from €699, with seats and file storage unlimited on every plan.

07 · How they differPartners and implementation
Centric PXM lists 56 partners in two types, Service & Support and Technology, and partners such as SAWS and InBetween sell apps in its marketplace. Plytix lists 33 partners sorted into Agency and Tech, without tiers, with tech partners such as Patchworks and Kolla.

08 · How they differAnalyst coverage
Gartner's 2026 report places both as Niche Players, Centric PXM under the name Centric Software, so that report does little to separate them. Centric PXM's latest stated Forrester placement is Strong Performer in 2023, as Contentserv, and we found no Plytix statement on IDC or Forrester.

- Which of the analyst's criteria match our requirements, and where did you score lowest?
Where each tends to fit
Teams tend to shortlist Centric PXM when
- suppliers and brands send data that should be validated and mapped with AI in a dedicated Onboarding Portal
- marketplace syndication, including order sync for channels such as eBay and TikTok Shop, should come from the PIM vendor itself
- digital shelf analytics should track prices, availability and ratings, and send weak SKUs back to the PIM
- product content should connect natively to Centric PLM or Centric's planning and pricing products
Teams tend to shortlist Plytix when
- the budget calls for published monthly prices by SKU count, starting with a free plan
- the store runs on Shopify or BigCommerce, and the connector can be bought as an add-on
- partners should view and export branded catalogues through Brand Portals
- the team wants unlimited seats and file storage, with data hosted on AWS in Ireland

Expert view
Centric PXM or Plytix: it depends on your requirements
For a team that edits product data every day, Centric PXM and Plytix offer familiar ground: both are SaaS platforms for product content only, both pair the PIM with a DAM, and both connect to the same commerce platforms, from Shopify to PrestaShop. The differences show up in how much sits around the product record and how it is sold: Centric PXM adds supplier onboarding, its own syndication and digital shelf analytics as modules, while Plytix publishes its prices by SKU count and sells feeds, portals and data sheets as add-ons.
Centric PXM, with its Onboarding Portal, Centric Shoppingfeed and native links to Centric PLM, suits brands, manufacturers and retailers that want supplier intake, syndication and shelf analytics from one vendor. Plytix, with published plans, a free entry point and add-ons you switch on as you grow, suits brands and retailers that sell through webshops and marketplaces and want to see the cost up front. Neither profile matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
What works best for you depends on your unique requirements. Count your SKUs, channels and suppliers first, then test both platforms with your own products. Drop us a line and we will gladly help you set up that test, vendor-neutral.
Independent advice that starts from your requirements, not from a platform.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Centric PXM and Plytix?
Both are SaaS PIMs with a DAM, for product content only. Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv and now part of Centric Software, adds an Onboarding Portal, Centric Shoppingfeed for syndication and Centric DSA for digital shelf analytics, and connects natively to Centric PLM. Plytix publishes its prices by SKU count, from a free plan, and sells feeds, brand portals, data sheets and store connectors as add-ons. Which difference matters depends on your channels, your suppliers and your budget.
What changed when Contentserv became Centric PXM?
Centric Software, which has been majority owned by Dassault Systèmes since 2018, agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025. The product now runs as Centric PXM, with Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed and Centric DSA around the PIM, and Centric says it connects natively to Centric PLM and its planning and pricing products. In September 2026 Centric launched Centric DPP, a standalone Digital Product Passport product, and announced Centric AI, with agents and Centric AI MCP for the whole portfolio.
Do Centric PXM and Plytix publish their prices?
Plytix does, per month by SKU count: Standard is free at 100 SKUs, Pro starts at €149 and Enterprise at €699, and prices above 25,000 SKUs are on request. Feed Management, Brand Portals, Product Data Sheets and the Shopify and BigCommerce connectors are paid add-ons. Centric PXM publishes no prices, names no editions and does not say what drives the price; its pages point to a demo request. Add the modules or add-ons you need on both sides and compare offers over three to five years.
How do Centric PXM and Plytix handle supplier data?
Centric PXM sells an Onboarding Portal, where AI validates and maps supplier and brand data before it reaches the PIM. Plytix has no supplier portal or onboarding module: supplier files come in through imports with smart mapping and scheduled imports, and AI for mapping imports is marked as coming soon on its pricing page. Ask both to import a real supplier file in the demo.
How do the AI features of Centric PXM and Plytix compare?
Centric PXM states AI across the content lifecycle in over 75 use cases and sells an AI Connector that runs on the customer's own ChatGPT, Azure OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral account. Centric AI, announced in September 2026, adds agents and Centric AI MCP for the whole portfolio, without naming a PXM agent. Plytix has announced no agents: Plytix AI generates and translates content and edits images on 500 credits a month or the AI Unlimited add-on, and we found no Plytix MCP server. Test both on your own products.
How do you choose between Centric PXM and Plytix?
Write down your requirements first, including your SKU count, your channels and how suppliers deliver data. Then run a demo in which both vendors model your own products, import a real supplier file and publish to one of your channels. Compare the offers over three to five years, including modules, add-ons, connectors and partner work.

How this comparison was built
We compared the two vendors on public information only: their own websites, documentation and press releases, plus reporting that names its source. We did not run either product for this page and we do not score or rank. Where a vendor does not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing.
We have a relationship with every vendor on our platform. None gets preferential treatment: all are compared in the same way, on the same factors, for our customers.
