PIM comparison
Centric PXM vs Syndigo
Two SaaS platforms that pair a PIM with supplier onboarding, syndication and shelf analytics. How Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, and Syndigo differ on scope, channels, AI, architecture and pricing, from public sources only.
Same category, two different emphases
Centric PXM
In its own words “AI-powered product experience management”9
Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is the product experience management suite of Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary that agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025. It combines PIM and DAM with content syndication through Centric Shoppingfeed, digital shelf analytics and an Onboarding Portal for supplier data. It is aimed at brands, manufacturers, retailers and distributors, and Centric says it connects natively to Centric PLM and its planning and pricing products.
Syndigo
In its own words “We help great products get chosen”28
A Chicago vendor backed by private equity that combines PIM, multi-domain MDM (largely from its 2021 Riversand acquisition), a GS1-certified GDSN data pool and a syndication network it says links 15,000+ brands and 3,500+ retailers. It added 1WorldSync, including PowerReviews, in 2025 and Taggstar in 2026. The platform runs as SaaS on Microsoft Azure.

“The PIM cores are close. Look at what sits next to them: product lifecycle tools at one, master data and a data pool at the other.”
What they have in common
Read the differences below against this common ground. Both are credible options for the same broad job.
- Both put a PIM with digital asset management at the centre, with supplier onboarding, syndication and digital shelf analytics around it.
- Both use AI on supplier data before it reaches the PIM: in Centric PXM's Onboarding Portal and in Syndigo's Vendor Central.
- Both are sold as SaaS, and neither publishes prices or offers an open-source edition.
- Both name Shopify, Magento and SAP among the systems they connect to, and neither describes a connector built for SAP S/4HANA.
- Both grew through acquisitions: Contentserv bought Shoppingfeed in 2023, and Syndigo added Riversand in 2021, 1WorldSync in 2025 and Taggstar in 2026.

Factor by factor
Eight factors, each with how the two approaches differ. Open a factor for the sourced facts and the questions to ask both vendors. Nothing here is scored.
How a capability is deliveredDescribes packaging, not quality.
- In the platform
- Separate module
- Apps or partners
- Not offered
- Not publicly documented
01 · How they differProduct scope and packaging
Centric PXM keeps to product content, with Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed, Centric DSA and the Onboarding Portal as modules and Centric DPP as a standalone product. Syndigo adds multi-domain MDM for B2B customer, vendor and location data as a separate solution, plus PowerReviews ratings and reviews and Taggstar on-site conversion messaging.
What each vendor sells around the product record, and how it is packaged. Packaging decides what is in the licence, what costs extra, and who you call when something breaks.
Core PIM
The PIM sits at the core of Centric PXM, with DAM, syndication and digital shelf analytics around it.12
PIM in the Product Experience Cloud, with catalog management, data modelling and data quality rules.39
Master data beyond products
Product content only: no customer, supplier or location domains in the Centric PXM line-up.1
Supplier onboarding
Digital assets
Centric DAM, with AI tagging, similarity search, versioning and rights-checked delivery per channel.2
Digital asset management is listed as part of the PIM, next to catalog management.39
Syndication
Channel performance analytics
Centric DSA tracks prices, availability, content, ratings and sentiment, and sends weak SKUs back to the PIM.4
Sharing with partners
Not published: no statement on a portal for sharing catalogues with distributors or retailers.
Print and publishing
Other modules
Centric DPP, a standalone Digital Product Passport product from September 2026, with native connections to Centric PXM and Centric PLM.14
Ask both vendors
- Which of our requirements are in the base subscription, and which are separate modules, add-ons or partner apps?
- Who supports a partner app when it breaks: you, the partner or us?
- Can we add a module later without a new implementation project?
02 · How they differData model and governance
Centric PXM models hierarchies, relationships, variants and regional assortments, with a paid Classification Library for ETIM and ECLASS and built-in approval workflows. Syndigo uses a low-code configurable model with attribute mapping to industry standards and retailer specifications, AI-driven validation, duplicate resolution and collaborative approval workflows.
How products, variants and relationships are modelled, and how each platform keeps data complete and approved. This decides how much of your catalogue fits without workarounds.
Modelling approach
Ask both vendors
- Model our three hardest products live: a configurable item, a bundle and a spare part with fitment data.
- How do completeness rules differ per channel and per locale?
- What does a change to the data model cost once we are live?
03 · How they differSyndication and channels
Centric PXM syndicates through Centric Shoppingfeed, with 1,000+ endpoints such as Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop and Google Shopping and marketplace order sync, and its marketplace lists a free GDSN Food & Beverage data model. Syndigo syndicates to 2,000+ recipients with 23,000 requirement sets, runs a GDSN data pool with 7,500+ trading partners and has fed ChatGPT through OpenAI Connect since October 2025.
How product content leaves the PIM: to your own webshop, to marketplaces and retailers, and to commerce platforms. If the number of channels is your bottleneck, this factor weighs more than the editing screens.
Ask both vendors
- Show a live feed to one marketplace we use, including what happens when the channel rejects an item.
- Which channel connectors do you maintain yourselves, and which do partners maintain?
- When a retailer changes its template, who updates the mapping, and at what cost?
04 · How they differAI features
Centric PXM states over 75 AI use cases and a paid AI Connector on the customer's own model account, and Centric announced Centric AI and Centric AI MCP for its portfolio in September 2026. Syndigo runs Synapse, an agentic platform on its MDM, with SynapseGo agents for product creation, onboarding, enrichment and syndication, and we found no Syndigo MCP server.

We found no MCP server. OpenAI Connect, from October 2025, publishes product feeds into ChatGPT under OpenAI's Agentic Commerce Protocol.52
Ask both vendors
- Which AI features are in the subscription, and which are priced per use or per credit?
- Run the enrichment on ten of our real products and show what a reviewer still has to correct.
- Where is our data processed, and is it used to train models?
05 · How they differArchitecture and integrations
Centric PXM is SaaS without a named host cloud or published stack, and integrates through REST APIs, connectors and a marketplace of free and paid apps. Syndigo runs on Microsoft Azure, adds EDI to its REST APIs and offers an App SDK and Integration Studio for low-code pipelines.

- What are the API rate limits, and how long does a bulk import of our full catalogue take?
- Where is our data hosted, and can we choose the region?
06 · How they differPricing and licensing
Neither publishes prices or a price unit. Centric PXM names no editions or packages, while Syndigo sells its Product Experience Cloud in editions for Brands and for Retail.

- Which metrics drive the price: products, users, channels, locales, API calls or modules?
- How are renewals priced, and is there a cap on increases?
- What does year three cost if our catalogue doubles?
07 · How they differPartners and implementation
Centric PXM lists 56 partners as Service & Support or Technology Partners, and Syndigo states 100+ solution integrators and technology partners in two types, with no tier levels published by either. Partners sell apps in the Centric PXM Marketplace, and certified partners can build private apps with Syndigo's App SDK.

- What does your own team do during the implementation, and what is left to the partner?
- Can we speak to two customers in our industry?
08 · How they differAnalyst coverage

- the programme also covers B2B customer, vendor or location master data, from the same vendor
- suppliers or trading partners expect GDSN, through a data pool the vendor runs itself
- ratings and reviews or on-site conversion messaging should come from the same vendor as the PIM
- the IT landscape runs on Microsoft Azure, and integrations should be built as low-code pipelines

Expert view
Centric PXM or Syndigo: it depends on your requirements
Start with the module list, and Centric PXM and Syndigo line up closely: both put a PIM and a DAM at the centre, both use AI to check supplier data before it reaches the PIM, and both sell syndication and digital shelf analytics. Both also grew through acquisitions. The differences show up in what came with those deals and what sits next to the PIM: Centric PLM and planning tools at Centric, multi-domain MDM, a GDSN data pool and reviews at Syndigo.
Centric PXM, with Centric Shoppingfeed, its Onboarding Portal and native links to Centric PLM, suits brands, manufacturers and retailers that want product content tied to the product lifecycle. Syndigo, with its own data pool, syndication network, Synapse agents and multi-domain MDM, suits brands and retailers that want product, vendor and customer data and retail tooling from one vendor. Neither strength matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
What works best for you depends on your unique requirements. Write them down, including any master data beyond products, then ask both vendors to onboard a real supplier file and publish to one of your retailers. We are glad to help you run that test with your own data, so get in touch.
Independent advice that starts from your requirements, not from a platform.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Centric PXM and Syndigo?
Both pair a PIM and DAM with supplier onboarding, syndication and digital shelf analytics, sold as SaaS. Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, syndicates through Centric Shoppingfeed and connects natively to Centric PLM and Centric's planning and pricing products. Syndigo adds multi-domain MDM for B2B customer, vendor and location data, runs a GS1-certified GDSN data pool and sells PowerReviews and Taggstar for reviews and on-site messaging. Which difference matters depends on how far beyond product content your programme reaches.
What changed when Contentserv became Centric PXM?
Centric Software, in which Dassault Systèmes took a majority stake in 2018, agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025. The product now runs as Centric PXM, and Shoppingfeed, which Contentserv bought in 2023, is now Centric Shoppingfeed, next to Centric DAM and Centric DSA. Centric says Centric PXM connects natively to Centric PLM and its planning and pricing products, and in September 2026 it launched Centric DPP and announced Centric AI for the whole portfolio.
Do Centric PXM and Syndigo publish their prices?
No. Centric PXM's pages point to a demo request and name no editions or packages. Syndigo's Product Experience Cloud pages direct buyers to sales, with editions for Brands and for Retail. Neither states what drives the price, so ask both which metrics apply and compare offers over three to five years, including MDM, reviews or other products you may add.
How do the AI features of Centric PXM and Syndigo compare?
Centric PXM states AI across the content lifecycle in over 75 use cases and sells an AI Connector that runs on the customer's own ChatGPT, Azure OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral account. Centric AI, announced in September 2026, adds agents and Centric AI MCP for the whole portfolio, without naming a PXM agent. Syndigo's Synapse agentic platform runs on its MDM from March 2026, and SynapseGo offers Product Creation, Onboarding, Enrichment and Syndication agents from April 2026; we found no Syndigo MCP server. Test both on your own products.
How do Centric PXM and Syndigo handle supplier data?
Centric PXM's Onboarding Portal uses AI to validate and map supplier and brand data before it reaches the PIM. Syndigo's Vendor Central collects supplier data through a portal, APIs or EDI, checks submissions against GDSN, ETIM and retailer standards with AI, and Synapse adds an Onboarding Agent. Ask both to onboard a real supplier file in the demo.
How do you choose between Centric PXM and Syndigo?
Write down your requirements first, including any master data beyond products and any GDSN obligations. Then run a scripted demo in which both vendors model your own products, onboard a real supplier file and publish to one of your retailers. Compare the offers over three to five years, including separately sold products, connectors and partner work.

How this comparison was built
We compared the two vendors on public information only: their own websites, documentation and press releases, plus reporting that names its source. We did not run either product for this page and we do not score or rank. Where a vendor does not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing.
We have a relationship with every vendor on our platform. None gets preferential treatment: all are compared in the same way, on the same factors, for our customers.
