PIM comparison
Bluestone PIM vs Centric PXM
A headless, MACH-certified PIM and a product experience suite. How Bluestone PIM and Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, differ on scope, data model, channels, AI, architecture and pricing, from public sources only.
Same category, two different emphases
Bluestone PIM
In its own words “The Agentic PIM. Agents drive. Humans govern.”1
A Norwegian SaaS PIM vendor, founded in 2016, with a development site in Gdansk, Poland. It sells a headless, API-first PIM with a native DAM, AI skills and an MCP server, and has been a MACH-certified member of the MACH Alliance since 2021. It is aimed at companies that connect product data to composable commerce, ERP systems and AI agents across several markets.
Centric PXM
In its own words “AI-powered product experience management”39
Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is the product experience management suite of Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary that agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025. It combines PIM and DAM with content syndication through Centric Shoppingfeed, digital shelf analytics and an Onboarding Portal for supplier data. It is aimed at brands, manufacturers, retailers and distributors, and Centric says it connects natively to Centric PLM and its planning and pricing products.

“Start from your landscape. If the PIM has to plug into a composable stack, test that first; if channels and shelf data drive the project, test those first.”
What they have in common
Read the differences below against this common ground. Both are credible options for the same broad job.
- Both are PIM-first and hold product content only: neither line-up has customer, supplier or location domains.
- Both are sold as SaaS, without an open-source edition.
- Both put a DAM and a supplier portal around the PIM, and both address Digital Product Passports.
- Both let customers run AI features on a model of their choice: Bluestone PIM through its AI skills, Centric PXM through its paid AI Connector.
- Neither publishes prices, and both list ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications, for Centric PXM at the level of Centric Software.

Factor by factor
Eight factors, each with how the two approaches differ. Open a factor for the sourced facts and the questions to ask both vendors. Nothing here is scored.

01 · How they differProduct scope and packaging
Bluestone PIM keeps a native DAM and a PDF and catalogue generator in its core, and adds Supplier Portal, Price Manager and InDesign Sync as extensions, with no channel analytics module. Centric PXM groups Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed, Centric DSA and an Onboarding Portal around its PIM, and leaves print to partner apps such as InBetween's Digital Publishing Connector.
What each vendor sells around the product record, and how it is packaged. Packaging decides what is in the licence, what costs extra, and who you call when something breaks.
Core PIM
Master data beyond products
Product data only: no customer, supplier or location domains in the feature line-up.11
Product content only: no customer, supplier or location domains in the Centric PXM line-up.31
Supplier onboarding
Supplier Portal, an extension built by Bluestone PIM, gives suppliers limited access, with completeness rules and review tasks.13
Digital assets
A native DAM with a built-in CDN, external asset linking and AI image features (AI DAM).1112
Centric DAM, with AI tagging, similarity search, versioning and rights-checked delivery per channel.32
Syndication
Channel performance analytics
No channel or digital shelf analytics in the line-up. Dashboards track product data trends inside the PIM.11
Centric DSA tracks prices, availability, content, ratings and sentiment, and sends weak SKUs back to the PIM.34
Sharing with partners
No separate sharing portal. The Supplier Portal extension can also give distributors limited access to chosen catalogues.13
Not published: no statement on a portal for sharing catalogues with distributors or retailers.
Print and publishing
Other modules
A Price Manager extension for pricing rules. Digital Product Passport support, with a DPP Manager module marked as coming soon.1517
Centric DPP, a standalone Digital Product Passport product from September 2026, with native connections to Centric PXM and Centric PLM.44
Ask both vendors
- Which of our requirements are in the base subscription, and which are separate modules, add-ons or partner apps?
- Who supports a partner app when it breaks: you, the partner or us?
- Can we add a module later without a new implementation project?
02 · How they differData model and governance
Bluestone PIM models category hierarchies, variants and groups, relations and bundles, with contexts for languages and markets and product statuses with full history. Centric PXM models hierarchies, attributes, validations and relationships with variants and regional assortments, and builds models from ETIM and ECLASS through a paid Classification Library app.
How products, variants and relationships are modelled, and how each platform keeps data complete and approved. This decides how much of your catalogue fits without workarounds.
Modelling approach
Category hierarchies, attributes, variants and groups, relations and bundles, with contexts for languages and markets.11
Ask both vendors
- Model our three hardest products live: a configurable item, a bundle and a spare part with fitment data.
- How do completeness rules differ per channel and per locale?
- What does a change to the data model cost once we are live?
03 · How they differSyndication and channels
Bluestone PIM feeds marketplaces directly or through Productsup and WakeupData, reaches trading-partner networks through 1WorldSync and a GS1 connector by Qmica, and builds its own connectors for commercetools, Shopify, BigCommerce and Magento 2. Centric PXM syndicates through Centric Shoppingfeed, which reaches 1,000+ endpoints with marketplace order sync, and its marketplace lists a free GDSN Food & Beverage data model; SAWS, a partner, builds paid Shopify and Shopware connectors.
How product content leaves the PIM: to your own webshop, to marketplaces and retailers, and to commerce platforms. If the number of channels is your bottleneck, this factor weighs more than the editing screens.
Delivery to retailers and marketplaces
Connectors to Productsup and WakeupData for marketplaces, plus 1WorldSync and a GS1 connector by Qmica for trading-partner networks.18
Commerce platform connectors
Connectors built by Bluestone PIM for commercetools, Shopify, BigCommerce and Magento 2. Vaimo builds the Adobe Commerce connector.18
Ask both vendors
- Show a live feed to one marketplace we use, including what happens when the channel rejects an item.
- Which channel connectors do you maintain yourselves, and which do partners maintain?
- When a retailer changes its template, who updates the mapping, and at what cost?
04 · How they differAI features
Bluestone PIM offers a conversational AI Agent from October 2025, AI skills such as AI Enrich and AI Analyst, and a production MCP server with 89 tools for outside AI clients. Centric PXM cites over 75 AI use cases and AI that validates and maps data in its Onboarding Portal, while Centric AI MCP, announced in September 2026 for the whole portfolio, does not say what it exposes or when it is available.
What AI does inside each product, as announced by the vendor. Vendors ship AI features several times a year, so read this as a snapshot and test on your own data.

- Which AI features are in the subscription, and which are priced per use or per credit?
- Run the enrichment on ten of our real products and show what a reviewer still has to correct.
- Where is our data processed, and is it used to train models?
05 · How they differArchitecture and integrations
Bluestone PIM is MACH-certified SaaS on AWS, with production regions in the EEA, the US and Singapore, 700+ REST endpoints, webhooks, AWS SQS queues and an SDK for UI extensions. Centric PXM is SaaS that integrates through REST APIs, connectors and a marketplace of free and paid apps, without saying which cloud hosts it or what it is built on; both name SAP among their ERP connections, and we found no SAP-certified connector for either.
How each platform is hosted, built, extended and connected to ERP, commerce and DAM systems. This is where IT teams spend most of their evaluation time.

The Centric PXM Marketplace lists free and paid apps from Centric PXM and partners, for channels, DAM, translation, AI and print.46
Ask both vendors
- Which connectors for our ERP and commerce platform are yours, and which are built by partners?
- What are the API rate limits, and how long does a bulk import of our full catalogue take?
- Where is our data hosted, and can we choose the region?
06 · How they differPricing and licensing
Neither publishes prices or offers open source. Bluestone PIM gives a usage-based range after discussing requirements, with users, SKUs and languages among the inputs and Extension Hub apps priced like the core; Centric PXM names no packages or pricing unit, points to a demo request and marks its marketplace apps as free or paid.
How each vendor packages its offer and what moves the price. Compare offers over three to five years, including modules, connectors, partner work and your own team, not on the first-year licence.

None. The Centric PXM pages point to a demo request.31
Packages
No named packages. Extension Hub apps are priced the same way as the core PIM.10
Pricing unit
Usage-based. The number of users, SKUs and languages are among the inputs.10
Not published: no statement on whether price follows products, users, channels or modules.
Open source
Ask both vendors
- Which metrics drive the price: products, users, channels, locales, API calls or modules?
- How are renewals priced, and is there a cap on increases?
- What does year three cost if our catalogue doubles?
07 · How they differPartners and implementation
Bluestone PIM publishes Silver, Gold and Platinum partner tiers and a certification programme, and partners publish extensions such as composable commerce accelerators from Avensia, Lab Digital and NoA Ignite. Centric PXM lists 56 partners in two types, Service & Support Partners and Technology Partners, without tier definitions, and partners sell marketplace apps such as SAWS shop connectors and SDZeCOM's Integration Suite.

Where each tends to fit
Teams tend to shortlist Bluestone PIM when
- the commerce stack is composable or MACH-based, and the PIM has to work headless through APIs
- AI clients such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor should read and write products, catalogues and assets through an MCP server
- PDF catalogues should come from the core PIM, with InDesign sync available as an extension
- customer data has to stay in a chosen AWS region in Europe, the US or Singapore
Teams tend to shortlist Centric PXM when
- content has to reach a long list of marketplaces, with marketplace orders synced through the same syndication product
- the team wants digital shelf analytics that track prices, ratings and sentiment and send weak SKUs back to the PIM
- the company runs Centric PLM, or Centric's planning and pricing products, and wants product content linked to them
- industrial catalogues should follow ETIM or ECLASS, or food data the GDSN Food & Beverage model

Expert view
Bluestone PIM or Centric PXM: it depends on your requirements
Run down a typical PIM requirements list and Bluestone PIM and Centric PXM share much of the brief: product content only, SaaS without an open-source edition, a DAM and a supplier portal beside the PIM, AI on a model the customer chooses and work on Digital Product Passports. The differences show up in how each is built and sold: Bluestone PIM as a headless, MACH-certified platform with its own extensions, Centric PXM as one suite inside Centric Software's wider product portfolio.
Bluestone PIM's 700+ REST endpoints, Extension Hub and production MCP server suit teams that connect product data to composable commerce, ERP systems and AI agents across several markets. Centric PXM's suite of DAM, syndication, shelf analytics and onboarding, connected to Centric PLM, suits teams that want channel output, shelf monitoring and product development from one vendor. Neither profile settles the choice until it meets a requirement you can name.
What works best for you depends on your unique requirements. Write them down, then run the same script with both vendors: your hardest products, a real supplier file and one live channel. We would be glad to help you build that script, so get in touch whenever it suits you.
Independent advice that starts from your requirements, not from a platform.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Bluestone PIM and Centric PXM?
Both are PIM-first SaaS platforms for product content, with a DAM and a supplier portal. Bluestone PIM is headless and MACH-certified on AWS, with 700+ REST endpoints, an Extension Hub and an MCP server with 89 tools. Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is part of Centric Software and surrounds its PIM with Centric Shoppingfeed for syndication, Centric DSA for digital shelf analytics and native links to Centric PLM. Which difference matters depends on your commerce stack, your channels and your wider IT landscape.
What has changed since Contentserv became Centric PXM?
Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary, agreed to buy Contentserv in February 2025; Investcorp, majority owner since 2019, agreed to sell at an enterprise value of €220 million, according to Investcorp. The modules now carry Centric names, such as Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed and Centric DSA, and Fabrice Canonge has led Centric Software as CEO since October 2025. In September 2026 Centric launched Centric DPP, with native connections to Centric PXM and Centric PLM, and announced Centric AI for its whole portfolio.
Do Bluestone PIM and Centric PXM publish their prices?
No. Bluestone PIM gives a price range after discussing requirements, based on usage such as users, SKUs and languages, and prices Extension Hub apps the same way as the core. Centric PXM publishes no prices or packages, and its pages point to a demo request; its marketplace apps are marked free or paid. Ask both which metrics drive cost and compare offers over three to five years.
How do the AI features of Bluestone PIM and Centric PXM compare?
Both let customers pick the model: Bluestone PIM's AI skills run on a model the customer picks, and Centric PXM's paid AI Connector runs on the customer's own ChatGPT, Azure OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral account. Bluestone PIM adds a conversational AI Agent and a production MCP server with 89 tools. Centric PXM cites over 75 AI use cases, and Centric AI MCP, announced in September 2026, does not say what it exposes or when it is available. Test both on your own products.
Which one fits a company preparing for Digital Product Passports?
Both address the topic. Bluestone PIM states Digital Product Passport support, with a DPP Manager module marked as coming soon. Centric launched Centric DPP in September 2026 as a standalone product with native connections to Centric PXM and Centric PLM. Ask both to show a passport built from one of your own products.
How do you choose between Bluestone PIM and Centric PXM?
Write down your requirements first. Then run a scripted demo in which both vendors model your own products, import a real supplier file and publish to one of your channels. Compare the offers over three to five years, including extensions, marketplace apps, connectors and partner work.

How this comparison was built
We compared the two vendors on public information only: their own websites, documentation and press releases, plus reporting that names its source. We did not run either product for this page and we do not score or rank. Where a vendor does not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing.
We have a relationship with every vendor on our platform. None gets preferential treatment: all are compared in the same way, on the same factors, for our customers.
Spotted something out of date? Email info@pimvendors.com and we will check it against the source.
